Workshop Artisans

sunrose95sunrose95 Member Posts: 2 Arc User
Well, I only have 4 right now. I am Armour smith and the ONLY artisans that I can hire have been alchemist and nothing else. Is anyone else having this issue or is it just bad luck on my part?

Thanks

The system is inordinarily fond of Alchemists. You typically get more applications from them than the rest combined. This seems to even out later - maybe because when you have rejected a particular alchemist, it will not reapply for a while and the total pool is limited.

However, assuming you had all 9 profession slots unlocked in the old system, you get to pick 9 artisans (including 3 purple ones), and there you can pick any profession you want.
    Hoping for improvements...

Yep... alchemists alchemists alchemists... that's it. I'm finding it kind of hilarious. I hope they fix this bug as it's making this new system really frustrating amongst other things.

I wonder what totally new players are experiencing? This would totally lock people out from the new system most basic quests.

    Wait!!!! WHAT?!?!?!?!?

    How do you do that????

My main that is going to be doing crafting had all nine slots unlocked and all Prof to max... who do you talk to or where do you go to select those?

I just got my workshop to Level 2, and just finished the quest to kind out how/why the previous owner of the workshop failed.

49 of 50 applicants yesterday and today have been alchemists for me. 9 chose alchemy at the start of the tutorial and 1 chose blacksmith. The 1 non alchemist was an adventurer. If not for legacy stuff I would not be able to craft anything but alchemy.

If you go to the retainer and say ask questions. You can ask how to hire applicants. In there the retainer says that in addition to daily applicants there are 2 other ways to hire at the managers desk. 1 is to pay zen and the other is to pay to have a recruiter find a specific profession artisan. It is my pure belief that the absense of this feature was on purpose to drive players to pay zen for artisans in the opening weeks as RNG fails to give players artisans for all their professions. It only looks that much worse since we're getting upwards of 99% RNG failure where we only get the primary profession artisan. This looks really bad and they need to fix this fast or intelligent players will see they are being scammed. Its bad enough the whole system is falling apart all over with a nonexistant marketplace for items made, but now we find out that they are driving us to zen purchases just to get artisans. And don't anyone try to say its easy to get artisans by spending exchange points. Not everyone had fully decked out characters and many people have new characters leveling for the incentives who has an empty level 1 profession set and can't even get legacy artisan slots. As it stands right now a freshly created character will be unable to level up any other professions cause the RNG will keep them locked into 1 profession for weeks at this rate of spawn.

I had some really decked out characters and I don't think any of them would be able to afford more than 1 or possibly 2 artisans from the retainer. One thing I noticed is that when I used the epic recruitments that I got from the retainer for having unlocked slots 7 through 9 in the old system, every character that used these for Adventurers got Krung Sweetwater. Every. Single. One. He has a 20% Dab Hand, but his commission modifier is insane (200%)!

Oh and to upgrade your workshop to level 4 will cost you 5million AD or take you until the end of time to craft your way there ;)

@callumf#9018 Yeah. I was thinking about working on doing this on my warlock just for the experience of doing it. I have concluded that you really have to enjoy the tedium of crafting to upgrade your workshop to level 4 by doing crafting. I have already given up and put the resources I gathered on the AH. We'll see if they sell. If not, I hear mimics are hungry this time of year...

I made a new character, deciding that I would start fresh with a character to take advantage of the Neverember Incentive deal with the idea being that this is my new main.

I chose armorsmith as my starting skill, so I got my two adventurers and two armorers. After that I have gotten at least 9 applications and every one of them has been an alchemist.

On the bright side, I liked one of them pretty well. Not planning on working in alchemy much, but I suspect that he'll be the last one that I fire.
But they just keep applying. Fire one or decline the application and they show up in the next batch of applicants or the one after that.

Overall, out of some 17 applications that I have seen over four characters (three older characters and my new one) so far, 16 of them have been alchemists.

    It's an issue.

It's been reported in the "problems with the new module" thread by numerous people.

All I can suggest right now is to take on whoever applies until you hit the cap and then start looking at their stats and keep the ones that you like the most. Hopefully the game will throw you a worker in some field that you want to work in eventually.

On the other hand, though, this is great for those players that chose alchemy for their toons.

At first, I thought that maybe they had some sort of alphabetical order thing going on that prevented us from getting other artisans.....but, got a tailor in the apps today.....so that thought now goes to the scrapyard...heh....

As I am sure the rest of you all feel, I am "very frustrated" with the fact that each and everyday my new applicants are nearly all Alchemists. Between two characters over a week, I have been fortunate to get one adventurer and one blacksmith. However, I have lost count of the number of Alchemists. I "really" wanted to play around with the workshop but this is pretty much a waste of time. Off to bed now and when I wake up tomorrow, I hope to find that all these Alchemists finally understand the meaning of rejection and stop coming to my doorstep.... Seriously!!!

So, I decided to adopt a new craft (jeweler) with the advent of the new system. The opening quest gave me 2 skilled jewelers to start so I was able to quickly get started. As several mentioned, the "new hires" have all been alchemists. I decided to pick one up as they could theoretically make ingredients that I need to keep leveling jeweler. The new hire arrived as level 1. She can't use the brass alembic because it requires level 10. So, I can't even run the first mission. How are you supposed to get started with other skills?

There is a stack of boxes to the right of the workbench. In there you will find "Worn" tools that can be used by pre-10 professions.
