"Tyranny of Dragons" unable to continue

flappsi4flappsi4 Member Posts: 10 Arc User
When trying to do "assist the emerald enclave", instead of arriving in Rothé Valley, i was taken on the introductory quest of "storm king's thunder".
After completion of this quest i was ported to Bryn Shander.

Since then i can go to Rothé Valley, but am unable to complete "assist the emerald enclave" - more specific, NPC Thar Greenbough in Rothé Valley does not give me "marching orders".
AFAIK i did all the prequisites, including the last one, "missing mithral".

In addition to this, my daily dragon quests are bugged since i was in Rothé:
"Common cause" is not completable because one of the subquests cannot be obtained: "Ghost stories" in Neverdeath (also one in Ebon Downs yesterday, "remnants of the past").

Some internet research let me to abandoning "common cause" which i did yesterday and retook today, but this made no difference at all.

Any ideas / suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Can you click the box in the tracker?

So Harper Boward sent you to Delrin Bass who sent you to Rothe Valley? That us the first step and it seems you completed that. Did Greenbough give you any quests? The next step would be doing yhe introductory versions of Bottled Lightning and Freedom Pass. Once these are complete, he should give the Quest "Emerald Enclave Report: Cult of the Dragon" to return to Delrin Bass.

To troubleshoot this, I would recommend following the chain again. Talking to Harper Boward, then Delrin Bass, then Thar Greenbough. One of them should have appropriate dialogue. If not, you may have to contact support.

Ultimately the goal here is to allow you to complete the campaign task (necessary to finish the module) and also to unlock the dailies in Rothe Valley since you can do them on your own to get more currency.

Common Cause is not part of all of this. That gives you currency for the boons and in the process, sigils and secrets. It is possible to complete the campaign without doing it.

Greenbough never talked to me at all.

None of the above NPCs give me any necessary dialogue i'm afraid.

I know that "common cause", as it is a daily, is not (or only weakly) connected to zone progression.
The fact that i can't complete it due to a missing quest might be connected to my problem,
    that's why i mentioned it.

But that might have autocorrected itself, "ghost stories" just popped up to be taken a few minutes ago.
I'll check it out later today... thank you for your posting!

No joy - completing "common cause" did not help in unlocking the Dragon Campaign.
Guess i'll wait for the next daily quest reset to check on all relevant NPCs again.

Just FYI Common Cause has to be completed the same day it is offered.

I was wondering: any chance the Well of Dragons branch is somehow involved? I'm not sure what level your character is, but I know for me when my characters hit that particular point, and WoD pops up, it always throws a wrench in the works.

    If I remember correctly:

if you receive the ToD quest from PE and do not complete/obtain the subsequent quest on the same day in where the original quest send you to, you can be in trouble because the subsequent quest is changed everyday.

i.e. PE ToD tells you to do quest A, you need to go to the next guy to get quest A and complete it on the same day.
If you wait for a day, when you go to the next guy, the guy will only deal with quest B. Hence, you cannot get quest A.
However, these quests are recycled, you need to go back to the next guy to get quest A on the day he gives quest A to finish your quest.
*** The game can read your mind. If you want it, you won't get it. If you don't expect to get it, you will. ***

The problem isn't the daily but the intro quest for Rothe Valley. Somhiw, the chain of quests has gotten messed up, but it is unclear where or it is an internal bug.

Not technically true. What you have to do is go to the zone where you are sent and collect the relevant quest or quests. As long as you pick the specified daily quests that are part of the Common Cause requirements, you can complete the quests any day you want and you will get credit for the completions and be able to collect all the awards. I know this from personal experience.

I considered putting qualifiers because what you describe isn't the only exception, but wanted to keep it simple.

Thanks for telling me how "common cause" can be messed up. Makes sense.
I guess in my case it got out of sync when the level 70 quest was mixed into it (f.e. "ghost story").
That would also explain why it autocorrected itself today.

So - back to the main problem, "Tyranny of Dragon" unlocking.

    frogwalloper,
"Well of Dragons" is definitely involved.
My toon is a fresh level 70 who went into WoD and grabbed all daily quests.
What kind of wrench are you talking about, should i abandon those quests?
    Thank you in advance!

Oh, so you've already been taking WoD quests - probably rules that out then.
You know how the Tyranny campaign locks down once Boward sends you to speak with Elminster? I thought maybe it could be that.

Sounds like you've got a whole spaghetti bowl of things going on. I hope you're able to sort it out!
  • flappsi4flappsi4 Member Posts: 10 Arc User
Ah no, didn't know about the campaign lockdown (not only is the toon in question quite noobish, but this applies to his mouseholder also).

Guess it is time to call Support now about this spaghetti bowl of wrenches...

Thank you everybody for trying to clean up this mess, i'll update this thread should i learn anything from Support that might help others with similar problems.

I don't know about a lockdown. Under normal leveling circumstances a character would be through with the Tyranny campaign before Boward would send you to the Well to talk to Elminster where you would pick up the campaign "above the line", allowing you to face Tiamat, get the last 2 boons, etc.

Sorry about the delay, my Internet went *POOF* for a few days...

One, answer from support. In short, i might have done some quests in the wrong order which made progress in the Campaign impossible. Even shorter, they told me bad luck, deal with it. Nice.

Second, i sorted it out by completing all 3 objectives in the bottom line of the Campaign window
(required: 3/3 in assist Harpers, Gauntlet, Lords Alliance).
So there must be a hidden trigger looking for the completion of those tasks, and when it's done "Free Passage" becomes available.

Looks good so far, but i'll be crossing my thumbs and playing with my feet for the next days just to be sure...

You're supposed to have 3/3 in Assist the Harpers before you can go on to the next box. Finish that box before you can go on to the third. Finish that one before you can move up to the next level.

This shouldn't have been hard to figure out given the little arrows that connect everything and the fact that if you click on the campaign tasks it tells you what its prerequisites are. Reading is FUNdamental!

ghost stories its not daily active quest i mean if u get quest assist from protector its hapend to dont have ghost story quest in same day with quest from protector but 100% u will get quest 1 or 2 day's latter
Simple way its to search people who have quest active and go inside in party you will be able to do that quest
    Dragons? On MY Way !!
