I have a few questions about this stat for pve...I'm thinking about swapping some of my mount insignia for a few of the mastery type primarily for the increase to recovery but they also add to your control bonus stat so...My first question is are there other items that add to that stat? I can't seem to find any enchants or equipment with control bonus. Not % increase mind you, cuz I assume if you have 0 control bonus then adding 50% to it doesn't help since 50% of 0 is still 0...lol! Second question is would it be at all noticeable in pve to have maybe 500 control bonus and grab a will o wisp or sylph companion? Particularly in chult areas...I play a DC so thinking more in terms of resistance rather than actual control.

Separately, Valindra's set bonus, final ToD boon and companions can add % control strength. Outside of perhaps PVP, it's not looked upon as a terribly beneficial stat to stack (and really only on CW). It impacts duration of some control effects (not all), and generally not too helpful for DC.
Control Resist can help survival. I run Sylph companion active bonus on most of my support classes. Most noticeable is some stun durations and how far you get pushed by Drufi's Hailstorm in FBI. Again, not all types of control are affected
Control Resistance helps some but the formula isn't as strong as people might think. 50% resist divides the length of time you are affected by 1.5. that is T/(1+%resist) which is not great for short stuns. Stacking 100% won't make you immune, just cuts the duration in half.
It also (as in most games) does next to nothing for affects like knocks and prones as they have fixed animation lengths. It should have a decent effect on Partial Paralysis's duration which may be a selling point. If you havr Knight of the Feywild, the Slyph is a decent pet for both active and summoned. The Wisp is badly bugged as summoned and while is part of the October bugfixes, should not be summoned until those go live.
Premitigated CC Duration * (1-CC Resist source 1) * (1- CC resist source 2) * (1- cc resist source 3)...=post mitigated CC Duration where each source is a separate multiplier.
If we assume Sharp's formula above you can expect that Sylph reduces control strength by about half, applied separately from any other reductions you may have. That jives with the scale of reduced pushing I feel on Drufi (on my OP without Sylph, I have to always run forward into the storm... with Sylph I can stop / not pay attention too much).
Frankly, control resist is something you can usually live without. If you have the 50% from Sylph, I wouldn't really bother with other sources of control resist (other than just incidental stats). Certainly wouldn't take up another companion active slot with it. Nor would I recommend using Sylph active on a dps class (other companion bonuses are too good to give up)
