Transmute Question

I transmuted my Twisted Labrys to Tiefling Greatsword a long time ago. I still have it sitting in my bank but have moved on to the Headsman’s set. I’ve been hoping CTA: Straight to Helm would run again so I can get another and use the Twisted for refinement points, but it seems that will never run again. The question: can I use my transmuted Twisted Labrys to transmute my Headsman’s Greataxe into Tiefling Greatsword?

Pretty sure the answer is yes but if you want to be safe just preview the changes before actually hitting the change appearance button. If you put your twisted into the slot you should be able to see what it WILL look like BEFORE you actually commit :)

Yes, you can do that. I have transmuted Item A with X to look like X, and then later Item B with A and it still looks like X -- I've done that on different characters, many times. I even once transmuted Item C with B and it even still looked like X. The item's transmuted look has continued to roll-forward every time.

I have transmuted weapons, armor, and head-, neck-, and feet-pieces in this way. So the original state of the item doesn't seem to matter.

Mind you, there is a transmute price every time. Unless your Item X is a Free Appearance Change item, then the first transmute of Item A is free... but each subsequent transmute will have the normal fee (which I think is 5,000 Astral Diamonds). The Free Appearance Change does NOT roll-forward. Its is consumed on the initial transmute. Take this into consideration. I happen to like the look of the Fools' Crown of Neverwinter for one of my characters. It has a Free Appearance Change, which I used-up. Later when I got a better head-piece, and I wanted it to look like the Crown I saw the charge, and realized I could buy a new Fools' Crown of Neverwinter off the Auction House for less than the 5k AD transmute fee, which is what I did, and applied that to my new head-piece.

Also, if you've dyed the item, colors go along with the appearance, though sometimes with unexpected results because the color channels may not line-up as you might think. So you may need to reapply your dyes. Or if you don't want the dyes on your new item, use a dye-remover.

Thanks. Unfortunately, the transmute is bound on pickup. So, the chance of getting another seems to be zero.
