Can't get rid of Special Task

I can not resolve the Special Quest "Obtain A Companion". It occured when I first started playing this character. (Kris@thecantu) With all my other characters, I went into the Grand Emporium and talked with the appropriate people and the quest was resolved, this did not happen with this character. It did not allow me the usual conversations to resolve the quest. Any assistance would be appreciated.
