adventuring solo at lvl70+ almost impossible (or maybe i`m just not doing it right)

Hi fellow adventurers of Neverwinter.
I levelled up to 70 2 days ago and since then have not been able to complete a single quest. Every fight seems to last about 20 seconds then i back to a respawn point. It`s possible my character is under powered but I`m not sure how that can be when I`ve gone this far, (never bought zen only used in game currency). I`m playing a female Drow great weapon fighter with +6 elven warrior armour, Elemental cloak(the reward from lord neverember, and using a Fey pole arm level 315 with standard lvl 4 azure charm, no enchantment as yet attached, my to best companions are a lvl 30 guardian and a lvl 35 yeth hound. I guess i need to say I`m only a casual player, maybe every 2-3 days i play for about an hour or so. Maybe I`m missing something but my experience is really startting to get me down with getting my butt kicked constantly. I don`t have a party to adventure with mainly because I`m on too sporadically to be reliable/ rely on other people to be on when I am.

So basically what I am saying is if i need to be smarter about how I play some advice would be welcome, I can give a fuller description of gear if needed as well as its point value etc etc. Currently trying to complete; Vault of the nine, the crown of Bruenor Battlehammer, trouble brewing(sharandar), Bryn shandar(recovery or supplies),and a quest in the rift(not sure of its name) you have to turn the holy symbols on. I feel so very un-heroic right now.....

Thanks for any advice or feed back. Character name Jastra Qidi lvl 70 Drow GWF. Soti Neavaran lvl10 Tiefling SW.

As a solo player from beta, there is no easy way to answer your question. It's attritional to achieve anything in this game, like many other MMO's. You could look at buying the Wootz main hand from the AH - there's never an OH for the GWF (no idea why), but that should up your damage immediately. Look for red enchants for your defense slots, yellow for your offense, and blue's for the utility (extra XP = possible power points.

On the subject of power points, you don't see the full benefit of your toon until you have all four points in your chosen builds powers.

I'll be honest, I've been in this game so long I've forgotten how hard/easy it was at the start. My advice would be to keep plugging away, as it's a pretty decent game, albeit with some hard curves in progress.

If you want to chat in game about the perils of solo play, I'm hammbo1969. I main a rogue, but I have a pretty solid build for my GWF.

Gear is usually the issue for new L70s. There's a huge difference in difficulty because L70 is end game.

The first step I'd recommend is checking the class forums here. Ask around to see if there's any "tips for newbies" threads for the GWF that aren't all abbreviations and math.

Next would be finding better gear all around.
-Like Hammbo suggested, the wootz set is available on the AH and you'll see immediate improvement with those equipped
=-If you can't afford those yet, ANY of the artifact sets will be an improvement over a standard weapon. With the new refinment system you can have them at Blue (even Purple) with very little effort/investment.
-Run Malabog's Castle, Valindra's Tower, and Temple of the Spider (master) - those should eventually get you some good purple gear. They're the easiest of the dungeons, but they can still wipe you out fast, so hold back and let the tank do the charge. Believe me, they won't be mad that you're not running ahead.
-When you're comfortable in MC, VT, and eToS - start trying CN - that's the first dungeon where the boss (even nerfed as he is) can still wipe an unprepared party.

    Boons
Sharandar and Dread Ring are probably the fastest and least dangerous to complete. Both of them also provide a self heal which is highly valuable in later content.
Underdark can be finished by waiting around in Well of Dragons for Demonic HEs (not the one east of the town). People usually flock to them when they're up, so just do what you can and reap the rewards.

Guilds are a huge benefit in the post-L70 game. A good guild will be OK with short playtimes - and you'll find some very good "starter" end-game gear at their merchant. It'll also open up a community that should be willing to help you out in some of those more difficult quests. If you're on PC, shoot me a mail or /tell if you're interested in joining one.

I'm not trying to be offensive so please don't take it that way, but the problem is more than likely with your build and gear choices.

You will probably need a re-spec. Follow advice from an experienced GWF on where to spend your attribute & feat points, which powers to slot and the right rotation for them. This alone should see your survivability & damage output increase significantly.

You can also grab some L70 blue gear from the auction house to tide you over until you can earn a decent set, then just start working on your boons and earning AD from 3 man dungeons.

Avoid the following campaigns for now:
Storm King's Thunder / Sea of Moving Ice
    The River District
    Chult
Please Do Not Feed The Trolls

    Xael De Armadeon: DC
    Xane De Armadeon: CW
    Zen De Armadeon: OP
    Zohar De Armadeon: TR
    Chrion De Armadeon: SW
    Gosti Big Belly: GWF
    Barney McRustbucket: GF
    Lt. Thackeray: HR
    Lucius De Armadeon: BD

I don't have a GWF, but I can understand how it can be challenge on a low IL because the class has no real crowd control features that others can resort to in your situation. Here is my two cents worth of some the things you can do.

    - One of the best value for money things you can invest in is the mount insignia, the blue insignia are relatively cheap compared to what they give you, you also want to complete all the insignia mount bonuses, so buy the blue mounts with your AD when you can. Another thing is that they are a long term investment, you will find that you do not have upgrade these for a while when you get them.
    - Aim to get the Drow armour set, this is a fairly decent set for somebody just starting out. The demon heroic encounters in the Well of Dragons map usually has people doing them, so you should have zero problems getting the faezress (don't know the exact spelling) to purchase the Drow set.
    - Do the dungeons/skirmishes these give you AD and can at times drop useful gear and enchanments.
    - Look for a guild, if you have not already, look for a guild (there is a guild forum on this site where you can look) many guilds can provide you with significant stat boosts
    - Make sure you have not neglected the armour penetration stat, this is the first stat you want to focus on, because if you have not then all your power and other stats are simply wasted on enemy that have armour stats (which most do have)
    - Don't do Bryn Shandar or Chult now, they are generally more challenging than the others.

Follow the campaign list. Do Elemental Evil for the boons and gear. Do Sharadar. Then move up to the next, and the next, and...
I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.

Thank you everyone. Some great suggestions so far. I`ll spend some time just queueing for dungeons for a while i think and try to finish off Sharandar. The good thing is there is no time limit to finish anything you can just come back and try again later. I will master the end game eventually....just need to spec- up better. Noob mistakes...

Also, you can farm the relic gear from the seal vendor in PE by doing the demonic HE quest in Dread Ring, IWD, and WOD. You won't be able to solo the other content in these zones yet, but the demonic HE's attract a crowd & you can slip in & collect 2 - 9 Protector's Seals per HE.

Also, if you still have the artifact offhand the lord protector gave you at lvl 70, you can craft the main hand using one of the campaign tasks in th Tyranny of Dragons campaign.
