Chult Weapons are Trash

dagambitdagambit Member Posts: 187 Arc User
I don't know what kinda of thought was put into these weapons but the set bonus is trash/useless. Did the Devs really sit down at the round table and come to a consensus that a random ability buff of 2000 for 10 sec would be a good set bonus? Wait it only procs at the beginning of combat, "WHAT" at the beginning of combat. So on a boss they are useless pretty much. This just shows how much out of touch the dev team is with their game and community. Why a random stat buff of 2000 for 10 at the start of combat, when there are potions and food that give stat increase at 2000 for 3600sec through death. Why would anyone waste their time farming/crafting for these weapons? When they are 480 IL at legendary just like River District, stronghold weapons, and the Relic weapons from SKT. All of these weapons have better, far better set bonus. I am using the TR SH set over the Chult Weapons.

Why a random stat increase for 10 secs when there are items in the game that do the same thing, not only that you get to pick your stat you want increased for 3600sec. IMO I think these stat bonus for Chult Weapons shows laziness in weapon design. The weapons themselves are nicely designed but the bonus stat makes them highly underwhelming for me.

If you are using the chult weapons please tell me your reason for using them other than they are new. I am curious...

Lol free if you farm yo HAMSTER off, 2k chult ritches each just for the recipe, need 2 recipes as the weapon is in weaponsmithing and offhand is in platesmithing (varies by class).

Then you need the reagents wich are not that cheap atm, like you said it may be cheaper to just buy them outright.

spent a hole day farming the flowers for them, had enough to make about 10 sets of both, sold for 45 - 50k a piece.

Yeah bro chult is the easy set lol, and the 2k chult ritches is per recipe you need 2 of them totaling 4k wich isnt too bad its them reagents that costs the ad unless ya get lucky farming them.

Thought we are suposed to be geting new better weapons next mod, mod 13 not the 12b?

Seriously, how can you compare the chult weapon set – that someone can jump on the AH and buy for about 60k AD (depending on class and my pricing is average based on XB1) – to the mastercrafting set or the rd weapons or relic weapons is just ridiculous. It took me a lot of grinding to get the relic set on my main (and im still short 2 marks to go legendary). It took forever to grind out river district sets for my 2 seconds highest alts. Hell, it took grinding to get my twisted set ages ago.

But it took me less than 10 minutes to buy 5 chult weapon sets for my remaining alts.

Effort versus cost here. Why would someone want to buy Chult weapons? Because its all they need for an alt. Would i run chult on my main. Not likely. But I'm not grinding out weapons for a bunch of toons so the Chult set was a welcome addition.

I see the Chult Weapons are only popular because they are cheap. Still working on my relic set but about to give up farming MSVA is a pain in the HAMSTER.

The Chult weapons are for alts or new 70's who can't handle SKT/SOMI or RD. They are not meant to be better than the SKT or RD sets.

Prices range between 40k - 80k on the AH or if you're in a guild with decent people someone may make you a set for free.

If you want a decent set bonus then you're going to have to spend a month or three working for them.

Compared to the previous "standard entry level" which was the Elemental set, the Chult weapons are a better option for a lot of people who need an extra push of IL, and some stat boosts to compete.

I'd have far rather had THEM on my GF, CW, TR, etc when going IN to SKT or CA than the Elemental sets I DID use.
So the set bonuses aren't great?
Well, with respect, if they were brilliant there would be no need to push for better.

My DC still runs with the Elemental Fire set, cos despite the BIG difference in stats that the Chult weapons would offer, the Action Point gain set bonus is what keeps her spamming dailies.

They're not meant to be what you aim for, they are meant to be the new starting point. Since the content has gotten harder, the base gear has had to increase also. You are meant to use them to farm the better stuff.

I do wish it was possible to farm RD weapons for alts though - my pally has enough campaign currency to buy for a couple of alts but the currency is not transferable either...

As others have said, RD weapons are by far the best choice for brand-new L70s. I just made a set for my GF alt, for example - a new 8000 IL L70 character.

Basically, yea - great design - starter weapons that are good enough to be useful - and do 95% of what the absolutely best weapons do.
    Hoping for improvements...

And, sadly, with the introduction of the Chult set it's unlikely they will feel a need to change that.

I like these weapons as a way to get some decent stats for new 70's/alts etc and I like that they did not make the BiS weapons obsolete. I don't want to have to change weapons every three months, that gets to be overly expensive.

You get what you pay for. For serious players grind out the fartouched residium and get the stronghold weapons.

I grabbed a set of chult weapons for all of my alts that only leave the stronghold for scrub runs. They are a step up from the elemental or twisted sets they were all sitting on. Most of those characters will never leave the stronghold other than for fun or experiments. That is who the chult weapons are for. They are also good for new 70's since they are cheap and essentially free for the people making them to make. I have chult riches coming out the wazoo - what else is there to spend them on?

Any character I have that I actually play gets better weapons. Though I refuse to get the Somi weapons because that whole area is just stupid - instead I'll get the titansteel or brightsilver.

I just put a set on my Cleric to replace the Elemental set to push his I level up, given he is a heal and buff cleric they were fine for him (alt 5) no way I am grinding for others on him, as his only function will be for group completion for guild activities in specific dungeons.

As many players already pointed out these weapons are fillers until the player can get better weapons or simply used on alts.

I picked up a set on my GF simply to boost stats and her IL. I have no desire currently to grind out RD or SKT/SoMI for the BiS weapons so I picked these up for a few thousand AD. My SW that is slowly moving up in levels also has set in his bank. He is an alt and will probably rarely be used but the cost for the weapon was cheaper than buying the elemental set. Huh...go figure....

The stat bonus is great actually on adds though as most adds are killed within 2 seconds any way.

If I had to get proper weapon I would probably go for the RD set as I prefer the RD grind over the grind from SKT/SoMI.
