Whats the benefit of being a crafter?

I have maxed out most of my crafting stats but the stuff I can make is nothing like as good (powerful) as stuff that just drops on game, I can make ring, armour (of all types) weapons for all classes but none worth selling on as the stats are pants, I would like to be able to craft items that others would buy but this don't work in game. WHATS THE POINT?

If you do Masterwork you can make things competitive with high end content drops. For example, Stronghold weapons (tier 2) do the same damage as relic weapons and have a competitive bonus (+2% to damage, healing, and damage resistance for all party members for each person in the party using them). Belts and necks have competitive stats and combo bonuses as well. Sphene ring of restoration is equivalent to +4 ring of goblin slayer (minus bonus against goblins).

You can also craft things to donate to the guild, which is probably the best way to build up AD and gems in your guild coffer. This gives payout without the ordeal of going through the Masterwork tasks.

If you browse through some of the stronghold gear you can decide for yourself.

Tip for beginners: Rank up weaponsmithing to Lvl 20......get some dragon eggs (cheap), craft item of Avyander whatever.....easy, fast....salvage each for 5500ad all day/night (or save said items in hopes of another x2ad event even better). Thank me later.

There have been three expansions to crafting to allow for newer recipes for more powerful equipment, items and potions, though the path to attain "mastercrafting" at the highest levels is fairly time-consuming and expensive (if you try to buy all the necessary ingredients instead of farming them and using your other professions to make them)

I believe you also have to be a member of a guild that has at least a level 14 guild hall to finish Mastercrafting 3, but you can start the questline at GH 12

The Weapons and Armor that can be crafted at the highest levels can be among the best in the game, but some of the required materials only drop rarely in the T3 dungeons and many of the rest have to be farmed or bought from special SH vendors

You should read about how it all works on the Wiki and then ask around to find out if this is where you would want to go, since while you can make money and gear with Mastercrafting, it is a pretty big investment, so depending on what you want to do with professions, you may choose to wait until later or just not do it

With the new shirt and pants you can get in the Chult skirmish, the market for professions made shirt and pant are going to be destroyed
