In the party section where you can see their portraits there are little audio icons. These audio icons turn yellow while they are talking (or playing music). You can left-click these audio icons to mute that person while they are in your party. This setting will mute that person forever, so if you party with them again they will automatically be muted again. This mutes only voice communication as far as I know, and doesn't change text chat.
Do you mean you want to mute someone in your party? When they send their voice there should be speaker icon next to their avatar. Click that to disable/mute them or slide slider to decrease/increase their mic volume.

Disable voice chat if you don't want to listen to all of them.
*** The game can read your mind. If you want it, you won't get it. If you don't expect to get it, you will. ***
"If if that was the case, if it was something then I probably was chasing. I would have never gotten it. That was the whole point, if you chase something, then sometimes you never get it. uh huh if you put forth to work and all the attitude, next you know it's bestowed upon you." -- Michael Jordan
You can Identify the speaker, because the icon beside their name will turn from white to yellow when they are speaking... click in & it turns red once it is disabled.

I've muted some and then found them on my ignore list for some reason.
I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.
