Great Weapon Fighter has always been my personal favorite. YMMV.
My opinions are my own. I do not work for PWE or Cryptic. - Forum Rules - Protector's Enclave Discord - I play on Xbox Any of my comments not posted in orange are based on my own personal opinion and not official. GWF is one of the top DPS. I have had one since Beta when the class was a defender(tank) but that option hasn't been available since mod 4. I find the class to be rather limited now and not a lot of fun, but you will do good damage and with attention to your rotation can be excellent.
HR is the other top DPS class. They have a lot of options, twice the number of useful paragon trees than GWF!, and can be fun to play in different styles.
DC and Protection Paladin are great choices if you have an interest in playing a support class. DC future is uncertain but the class has always been pretty tenacious in PVE, finding a way to hang in though thick and thin. OP is currently the most requested tank class.
GF is the other tank class and still viable, though some groups are picky. I run mostly with friends and guildies and don't have any issues.

If they nerf the other class you choose, you will be disappointed again. Nerfs to other classes can happen anytime. Better to stick with your staple (and maybe SW will be buffed or other top dps classes nerfed: no more envy ^^).
Personally, I have a DC and a pally in addition to my SW.
They have nerfed my classes one after the other. I used to main a TR.
Last night I had a guy hop into our chat looking for help with his TR. He's been in NW for about 3 months, sunk a bit of $ in and hit that point in the TR where you start falling behind your friends. It was heartbreaking because all of us in chat had been there, having the standard TR meltdown where you consider just quitting the game, because your class just can't keep up and you either have to be "carried" by your friends, or work so hard at your character that you stop having fun.
I don't know that the SW is dead - but they certainly pigeon-holed them down one path. Templock is great but not everyone wants to be a templock.
Last night we were joking around:
"Oh look the DC gets fixed tomorrow" "Yeah how much you want to bet they figured out it was the TR's weapons that broke the DC?" "Yup they will take away the TR's daggers and yell we fixed the DC guys then all of us TR's will have to go around slap fighting" "At least the 20 people in PVP will be happy"
Sigh.....

@zardon70 if you like SW stick with it, nerfs are something inevitable to virtually everything in this game so just like us, other classes will get their round of downgrades (though one can argue and it's a fact devs nerfed SW in a vicious way) and the cycle repeats itself, one falls and another rises.
As for you guys mentioning OP, if things about it don't get changed too much, I believe I will be gearing mine up next year or whenever they release RD and Chult shortcuts, it ain't no way I'm doing those campaigns again, maybe RD but not Chult, that thing is hardcore boring, what I like about mod 12 is the dungeon, the t-rex mount, new gear and debuffs being made less bad but that's it, gosh I cannot stand Chult area and missions/hunts.
Yeah you just have to go with what you love. But I have one of each so that when my frustration with one class gets too high I just move over to someone else for a while.

Yeah I play as a TR since beginning of Mod 2 and except of running stealthed to dungeon door in GG I havent felt useful. That was 4 years ago. But then again, TR is probably fated to be poor class in PvE, since whenever devs tried to buff him he became terror in PvP. SW doesnt have this issue, so maybe one day its gonna be strong :-)

What the devs need to do is update the paragon path for all classes...
1 - PVP 2 - PVE DPS 3 - PVE SUPPORT
This can be done by updating paragon feats to include bonuses to PVP stats if you go with the PVP Paragon path. The DPS feats will contain self buffs to damage for encounters, at wills, etc...
PVE support is where the buffing, healing, etc sits.
I look at NW and it is pretty sad that there is no clear and definited role when we go one way or another for our paragon paths.
There is an exception and that is with OP. You can be a healer or tank based on your paragon path you pick. It would be nice to see something similar down the line for other classes.

yes, im so bored on my cw i even bought yesterday a lightning weapon enchantment with full rp ready to upg, but still idk yet if i should switch to my dc and start playing with him as my main. with 3days and a few hours of vip and i dont know if i should renew it, game got bored. about sw if u fill like sw is not working i would recommend a dc, because u can get invites for dungeons all of the time, i get lots of pms for FBI and i say no, because its not unlocked on him.

Templock is very overrated.
