I've been using set orcus for a long time and it is great, look like designed to gwf.
but now on mob 11b we can buy new cloacks and one of that have +2 str. i was wondering, i have 30 str with orcus, i can get 34 with girdle of str and new cloack+ potions 36 str and +2 of disc total of 38 str.
orcus have 20% bonus dmg based on diffence of hp % betweem me and my target, that makes me believe it is not 20% all time.
well, in the end the question is: what do you think is better 38 str or orcus bonus ?( remember you could change orcus artfact too)

EDIT: Bleh, realized in hindsight I dun goof'd on a part.
You are correct about the scaling Orcus set, the formula is:
(|% of your HP - % of enemy HP|/5) * 100 =% Orcus Set Damage buff
So, the Orcus set bonus only approachs 20% damage when the enemy is about to drop dead and you're at full health, or if you're 1 HP away from death and your enemy is at full HP.
-- You got me curious, because a certain MoF debuffer kept bugging me about this subject on my own (mothballed) GWF. I don't claim to be the best mathematician, but I'll try my best.
So, we want to compare the Orcus set buff to STRbelt+Company Cloak.
For purposes of comparison, let's say we have an attack which does base damage of 100, all parameters are held equal between the two, and all potion/mount buffs are applied to all cases (since it would be unfair to include buffs for Company+Girdle and not for Orcus), and so on,. with the only differences being the Orcus set bonus and STR difference.
There is only a STR differential of 4 between the Orcus Set and Company/Girdle combo, since the Orcus belt gives you +2 and the Company/Girdle effectively gives you +6.
This is the damage formula, abridged to suit what we need to compare:
Damage = Base Damage * (Product of Buffs) * ((STR-10)/100)
Orcus stands for the Orcus set bonus, which, due to its scaling nature, means that we cannot count it as a static buff. What we can do is calculate at what % of Orcus Set bonus makes the Orcus Set equal to the Company/Girdle combo.
Where are they equal? Set the two equations equal to each other:
128 = 124 * Orcus 128/124 = Orcus 1.03225810
So, calculated, both will be roughly equal when your Orcus Set hits a damage buff of ~3.23%. Any higher buff % means that Orcus is better, anything less means that Company/Girdle reigns supreme.
The Orcus set damage buff of 3.23% only requires a 16.15% difference of HP between you and your opponent. For example, you could be at full health and your enemy could be at 83.85%, or you could be at 33.85% HP and your enemy at half, or so on and so forth as you continue to change values, of which you input using the function:
x-16.15 = y
with x or y representing the % of yours or enemy HP as you see fit (due to the original equation's absolute value nature, it doesn't really matter in which variable you place the enemy or player HP value).
I personally don't think that's a hard differential of HP to hit. On mobs and weaker bosses, it is true that most will die in 1-2 hits, which limits the usefulness of Orcus. But, on the stronger bosses, I would say Orcus wins, because you won't down the boss in a single hit and you have a bit more time to make the set bonus work.
Of course, I don't consider the other factors, such as the extra Power gained from a different artifact, although I personally don't think adding 250 extra Power via Disciple of War to be a big enough DPS increase to shift things in Company/Girdle's favor.
I don't consider Disciple of STR because if you apply the buff to the Company+Girdle, you have to apply it to the Orcus Set. You would have to multiply the STR bonus of both the Company combo and Orcus set by however much the feat gives, which would mean that you would multiply both sides' damage by the same variable, which would make Disciple of Strength pointless to consider.
If there's anyone out there spectating with a better grasp of math (Sirjimbo, Janne, Felt Pen, etc.) who can explain this better/critique, then go ahead by all means.
Also you must find out if Orcus works on all powers. I am not a GWF, but for the CW, just read @thefabricant 's guide about mechanics for the CW. A lot of things are not increased by Orcus set in the CW case. If the same rings true for other classes like the CW, the comparisons may not be so cut and dry. Though just about everything works with at wills...so the GWF is probably safe.....JK!

Orcus' belt is already giving you +2 STR, if you equip a Girdle of Strenght with +4 STR you are getting only +2 for a total of 32, not 34. It is not right to ask if +38 STR (36 actually) is better than Orcus' set like if you were able to use potions and the +2 of the Disc only using the Girdle of Strenght since after buffing up using every available potion, campfire, mount, etc would give you only the difference of +2 STR in comparison with the other one.
Basically, your question would be if +2 STR is better than the 0-20% damage bonus granted by the Orcus' set. Keep in mind that you don't have to think about it like if you were getting a straight 20% bonus damage because you will hardly ever notice it. Instead, you need to see that you are getting a 5% bonus at 75% HP left, 10% at 50% left and 15% at 25% left. The set will keep increasing its effect the lower the HP of your enemy is. In short, orcus' set is useless vs enemies with very low HP because they would be killed inmediately without granting you any kind of bonus so the additional STR is barely better in this specific scenario. However, It's really good vs enemies that are very resilient (bosses/elite critters) because the longer it takes you to kill them, you will get the benefit of the belt for much more time.
my idea is create 2 loadouts, first one going full str and changing orcus artifact for something with better stats.(idk yet but eye of the giant looks cool, literaly ) and a second one to bosses with orcus, they have way more hp and the bonus keep working for more time.
actually, GWF now just clear instances like grind machines, even more when you are end game like me, but mod 12 is comming and debuff and armor pen changes too, so i'm really thinking about it, things like a race reroll focused on str and con instead dex, we can get 100% crit from a lot of sources, GWF goes to Full power and stamina, hp and ri, brutal as never before.

the diffence between them are -2 con +4 str. if we just change them. And,of course, the 20% effect. Orcus set have deflection on both, and shard of orcus can be changed for somethig better, i mean moviment and aoe isn't the bis, maybe a fragmented key of star(power, crit and arpen), that is pretty offencive, or eye of the giant.
I Agree with you, about orcus set vs bosses, that's why i'm thinking about 2 loadouts.
i'm talking about new way to look at gwf, i know lia knowles build is the most used and followed, even by me for a long time, but i made my changes and now it's time to find a new way to be deadly!
It is too boring walk around protector and inspect those gwf, all of them look the same, i need more than that.

There's a new cloack : http://neverwinter.gamepedia.com/Company_Raider_Cloak
str now is 30
orcus : -2
raider cloack: +2
girdle of str: +4
+ 1 potion of herism +1 elixir of fate =36
tenser disc +2 = 38 for 12 seconds.
the diffence between them are -2 con +4 str. if we just change them.
And,of course, the 20% effect.
