Make Insignia Refinable

grogthemagnifgrogthemagnif Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 1,651 Arc User
Insignia should be refinable, similar to Runes/Enchants. e.g. A Green Crescent + 4 Green Crescents (or 8 non-Crescents or combination of Crescent and non-Crescents) + optional Ward and 90% RNG = Blue Crescent. Blue Illuminated+4 Blue Illuminated (or 8 non-Illuminated or combination of Crescents) + optional Ward and 90% RNG = Blue Crescent. Blue Illuminated+4 Blue Illuminated (or 8 non-Illuminated or combination of Illumnated and non-Illumenated) + optional Ward and 50% RNG = Purple Illuminated.

What do you think?

I think your proposal would take the bottom out the epic insignia market, which is exclusively based on lockbox drops.

Great for the players, but would effectively reduce lockbox value (by making insignia packs near-worthless). Which means in order for it to go through it would need to be balanced by some other monetization strategy.

I am all for making high-level insignia more accessible, but I think the the value divide between green/blue and purple right now is so wide that we need to be careful about how we bridge the gap without crashing the market.

I think I have to be with Dupeks on this one. Lockboxes are a cash-cow for Cryptic, and they need to get payed somehow for keeping the server up. With the current lockbox, the purple insignia's are about the only thing worth gambling for. I mean, an Artifact with a rather poor active bonus and no offensive stats? A mount with Recovery and REGEN?! It's a wonder anyone is opening them at all.

We have looked into reports of players experiencing connection problems and have been unable to identify any server, data center, or client-side issues. We believe this may be ISP related.

It'd absolutely destroy any sort of economy around insignias. 16 green = 1 purple? In some cases that'd take the cost of a purple to 200AD.

So,to pull this off, you'd need to balance out the refining - first, by requiring hundreds (possibly thousands) of insignias to be refined, and second, making the upgrade chance exceptionally small (5-10% to go to blue, 1% to go to purple). The use of wards would make it more expensive than buying off the AH in most cases, but give people the freedom to actually upgrade.

Any idea that involves more use of inventory space and more use of the atrocious refining system, will be a resounding no from me.

I also agree with the above points.

I would like to allow insignia to be RP and not a refineable item itself.
