Hey everyone how's it going?
I picked this game up and figured I would give it a shot. I was a big fan of WOW for the longest time but it's ran it's course. Been playing for a few days and it took me a good bit to get comfortable with the controls. (xbox) However I think they did a pretty good job with laying the controls out.
Played every toon for a few levels. Some maybe up to lvl 10ish. Anyways I've settled on playing a guardian fighter as I think I would like to give tanking a try. Oh by the way I did the first dungeon 2 times now. I was nervous at first as I didn't know what to expect and being a tank I knew I would be in the middle of it. Lol that didn't happen. First time the 2 other people in the group pretty much ran through it non stop. I literally just ran and collected loot along the way. My dwarfs little fat legs couldn't even keep up with them. I assume this will change in later levels. Needless to say I haven't had to bother tanking anything yet.
Now I'm sitting at 18. Got a companion from a quest (had that mage guy from the start). I took the healer this time. Figured I'm a tank whacker guy and some healing could be useful.
Now I'm getting into enchanting and what not. A little overwhelming. Is this something that I should be working on now as I level up? Like WOW, most people don't bother with anything until they are level capped. Is this true for this game as well? Or should I be leveling everything all at once. And tanking. .... when will I actually be partaking in dungeons instead of trying to keep up with the others lol

The best way to do dungeons without getting left in the contrail of the heroic level 70 valiantly smiting a level 20 dungeon, is by queuing with people you know.
And so... on to Guilds.
Find yourself a guild that will help you get through the leveling process.
Some guilds only want L70, so don't bother asking, others just want numbers to secure alliances, and some are fabulous. Check the recruitment forum there are always people looking for new players. (including me... hint, hint...) but the best thing is to find like minded players who will take time to run dungeons with you at your pace. As you get higher you'll want to know if the guild has boons, and stuff like access to Drahonflight gear, but thats a way off yet.
Trying not to spam recruit, and build it slowly.
Was in a guild based out of NY with a good alliance, and we did loads of stuff, but when the helm guild left to join a mega alliance our new alliance was West Coast based, and that meant 2.00 and 3.00 am calls for Dragonflight and lucky to see anyone for dungeons before midnight my time.
Very sad to leave, but I was treading water for a month before I realised I had to try something else.
1. Dont pick the merchant for your first free artifact
2. Run 2 dungens every day, it's a quick 10k AD a day, if you can also do 2 skirmishes your AD will build up quick.
3. Dont buy armor / weapons as you level, you will get plenty from drops that will work for the short time you have them (except the lvl 60 purple weapons, they are cheap and will get you all the way to level 70 and can be salvaged for most of the cost back)
4. Follow the events. Saving salvage for 2x AD events, refinments for 2x RP will bring speed up your progress a lot
5. Join a good guild. As a tank you will be very in demand for end game dungeons but will take a 2-3 times longer to get your daily stuff done than DPS classes, a good guild should have people willing to help you run your dailys.
6. Read about how to refine artifacts using feeders, there is a HUGE difference between spending 10m refinment points to max an artifact vs 185,000 and 4 feeders.
Glad you are enjoying it!
1. Buy VIP. It will give you a free enchanted key everyday to open the lockboxes that drop. As a new player pretty much anything you get from the box will help.
2. Get a mount that has the wanderers fortune bonus as an insignia slot. There are 6-8 (?) options. This will drop refinement items to boost your character.
3. Do leadership in your professions. It is one of the longer grinds, but every task gives your character XP and at level 21 you can begin crafting refining materials.
I have leadership and alchemy leveling right now. Still a Lil confusing. Alchemy anyways. I just keep sending them out to do anything productive while I'm playing.
Are the mounts you speak of for sale in town? I just been riding the big old green beetle around. Cpl beginner horses in the pen.
Followers..... I have The Illusionist that they gave me at the beginning and then I grabbed a Healer when I hit the Quest for it. I have just been switching between the two while the other is training. Should I be looking for other companions? Or is that something that comes later in the game?
Also I Bought Rank 1 vip as suggested. I opened 1 box so far. Have 2 keys, 3 today. About 40 lock boxes lol. Should I spend the keys now on the lock boxes or is that also something that I should save 4 end game
This game is pretty dang deep
The healer I picked up from leveling stopped at 20. I think I can upgrade him so he can go higher but I haven't bothered yet as I wasnt sure if it was worth it or if I got better companions when I hit 70
These are obviously more expensive, but its always worth having a full set of active companions, even crappier ones, given how cheap some of them can be.
Even ones like the sprites, that give 1% AP gain at green, they cost like 4k AD, and can be upgraded to be pretty useful later in life.
