Cloaked Ascendancy - Aboleth or Mirage weapon

bergamoshbergamosh Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 6 Arc User
Hi,

I stoped the game from the 2 last mods, and came back for Cloaked Ascendancy. I absolutely don't want to obtain Storm weapon, and so i look for having one of the new weapons. I have an hesitation between Aboleth and Mirage. My aim is to have the best for dps (CW thunder 3.3k).
Aboleth set effect seems to be clear in its description, but not the Mirage.
For this weapon, we summon 3 illusions of ourself, "though results may vary". First, what does it mean, sometimes more, sometimes less? Something else? And how work these summons, do they attack, using our stats (lol), are they efficients, could them die??

Many questions on this Mirage who make me hesitate... if someone have or know and can help me to make a choice, it could be a pleasure :).
Thank you and sorry for my "basic english".

They are dumb illusions that die very easily and do low dps, as far as i know that doesn't vary, if you want dps, forget about one or another, set, just pick one you want, the diference is meaningless.

As a CW, don't rule out Fey either.
Just 1% less dps but improved AP gain and healing.

It is out going healing, so it seem useless you have a healing spell as a CW it doesn't make sense to use the Fey. The Fey weapon is clearly designed for a DC or a Healadin.

The mirage weapon is designed for PVP against tanks.

The Aboleth is designed as an alternative to the Relic weapon for DPS.

The Fortified is designed for DPS style tanks as you get 10% of your Defense as power.

If you have 20K defense you get a 2k boost in your power.

I really don't see a weapon there that screams pick me if you use the Drowned Set as a tank.

For my DC, I see the Fey as a very good replacement to my Burning. For my CW, I definitely see myself going after the Aboleth.

The mirage I would use if I played a Rogue or HR.

But the fey triggers off encounter use, not daily. What if your AP is full when it triggers?

I followed the guide of really the only site that listed all the weapons, stats and how to unlock them. It said unlock the aboleth by doing the investigate gyrion task so I did it and it was still locked so I saved and spent another 120 evidence of evil and did the second task and still locked so clearly they were wrong! Can anyone tell me which task unlocks aboleth? Now I'm down to 1 evidence again I'll be stuck with the elemental weapons I've had for a long time.

I hate paying taxes! Why must I pay thousands of dollars in taxes when everything I buy is taxed anyways!

    the store.
I think getting 2 unlocks (reduced store costs) is best.

You have to do 'Clear ths Docks' task. I don't think the second task is required but doing it will save you 60 Evidence while buying the full set.

Did you test the two weapons out?

I feel that Mirage is more for PVP due to the buff it provides against temp HP and shield blocking. Making tanks ability to reduce damage pretty pointless against players with Mirage weapons.

As for the other weapons, they seems more setup for PVE for the various roles.

I think the devs did this on purpose with these weapons.

I just wish the LifeForge weapon had a healing mechanic instead of a 5% increase in defense.

Has anyone used the Mirage weapons yet?

I know the mirages die easily - but while they are up do they have the same powers/boons as your character? I have an experiment I'm thinking of running down the road with them

The reports I have seen say that the mirages damage is pretty insignificant so they do not appear to be clones of your character.

I've heard Mirage set seems to act a bit buggy with weapon enchants and can also turn you into a chicken.

I have the mirage on my CW with an augment pet. Totally satisfied with it. I think it is good if you are ranged, controlling mobs, and don't have a bonding pet.

Read the bonuses of each weapon. Mirage is clearly design to by pass GF and Pally defenses in PvP.

I was planning on an experiment on my healadin to see if they will heal the group while there - and if so - do their heals proc BG and HW?

Mirage weapons are out of sight right now.
Waiting for Gambit's que for several minutes and 9 out of 10 parties vote to go for gold, where 3 out of 4 fails makes this probably the hardest weapon set to get at the moment.
Looking for a bronze group means standing around doing nothing for half an hour or so, while you could do more useful stuff.

    A pity.

I imagine it's pretty much mostly gold runs now. I started my fleece farming two days before double-RP, and I farmed for four days. Even with double-RP, I had to bail out of around half the runs.

And people are brain-dead too. There were a few runs where I was top DPS by far, so I let the group know I was leaving bronze or no bronze. Many times, they would still go for gold. I left them to fail at silver, everyone walking away with nothing.

And you can still get +4 companion gear at bronze.

the odds of that are abysmal though. it's up there wiht getting a legendary drop from a drop box. it's pretty regular with gold.

The new mastercraft stronghold set is better, does not need to get farmed, but is quite expensive atm.
Chars: CW, DC, GF, GWF, HR and TR.

erm..why? A MoF or another support class can wear SH weapons and they are really good for them. Its a support weapon for the group. I think i gonna take one at my pala alt and one at my MoF alt.

Even if you are the only one with SH weapon it is still better than Aboleth.

I mean, you have both +2% damage and -2% incoming damage active ALL THE TIME while with Aboleth you need to proc it with an encounter, then you have +4% damage for 10 seconds every 30 seconds which on average is like 1,34%.

Of course Aboleth still has other features (Life Steal, DOT and explode corpses), but as far as i know none of these are strong enough to justify its use.
