since cryptic has taken care of the bots from spamming in protector's enclave why are they not banning players as well for the same thing cause I noticed when I'm turning in quest or trying to chat friends that I never see players using the right channel where zone is becoming very difficult to help players in when you cant never help them due to spam cause I would really like to see them start doing chat bans tell they started using the right channel or I wouldn't see anymore like LFG LFM VT or all them group things in zone since I know lag needs fixing as well

If you want to help someone.. add them to party and use party chat.

You can also create your own help channel...

Because context matters. Bots were spamming bad things that are major violations of the ToS/EuLA. Most of the time, the player's aren't.

it doesn't matter the point is that we have channels like LFG and Guild where they don't need to be spamming in zone cause zone is not a spam channel its for asking for help in and if players cant follow the rules and use the channel there suppose to be using than yes they deserve to get banned from cryptic cause I'm sure tired of protector's enclave and not seeing it become a peaceful place where I just want to see them disable zone from people using words like LFG LFM Trade and what ever else they like using or I know this would end and make Protectors Enclave a better place for players to come to

Zone chat is just that - chat for that Zone. It does not have a designated purpose and can be used for whatever people use to wish it for provided that it's not in violation of the ToS/EuLA.

dude idk I came here to see what they could do but all you want to is tell all of us that players can do what ever they want but for me i have to disagree with you because you're not listening to what i have to say cause i have seen enough of this in zone where they never use the lfg or trade channel for stuff so why shouldn't they not get a chat ban cause they sure act like a bot to me

Because the rules for chat as I understand them are that there is no ACTUAL requirement for anyone to actually use the LFG, WTT, etc chats and is quite within the rules to ask for a group in zone if they want
The reason bots get hit with the ban hammer is because using bots is against the rules... NOT what they are actually posting.. in other words, the bot could be programed to say "NW is awesome" every 30 mins and it would be a violation because it is a bot saying it.. not what it is actually saying

Kreatyve is just telling you the rules, no matter what you may wish could be done about the situation there are no rules saying people have to post specific chat in specific channels.

That is all, it won't change.

I don't have a problem when people use zone its the either players that abuse it cause when I have been coming into protectors enclave where I have seen nothing but players tell either players to please use lfg or trade because all they want to do is spam spam and spam lines where they don't care why I was saying that it would be nice if cryptic would start chat banning them type of players or they would not be doing that in zone cause I get tired of listening to this when someone has to complain so why make a new tab if it doesn't work why I end up going to the mask because I cant take listening to this anymore when people ruin zone for you

My understanding is that the various channels were created because the players wanted it and the devs thought it was a good idea.

There is no requirement to actually use those other channels. There are rules in place governing conduct in the game.

I think the daily conversation that goes on in zone chat pretty much ruins itself... which is why I don't even have zone chat enabled. Made the game so much more peaceful!

I wish there was a ban forpeople who do not use punctuation marks while writing posts that are so long that you have a hard time reading them because you do not know where a sentence start and where it ends this is abuse of the written language and should be punished because I get tired of people who do not care at all if what they write is comprehensible for other users or players why take the effort to find out where a sentence starts and where it ends when you can simply ban those people who ruin the forum threads for you but as much as I wish people getting banned for not using punctuation marks cryptic won't because there is no rule that forbids writing as if you are a HAMSTER that never heard of things link punctuation marks and there is no rule that forbids that you don't give a flying f@rt if others can read what you write or not

Streamlining the chat is easy. Custom tabs ftw. Ive made mine so I dont have to expose myself to unwanted stuff at any given time.

It's close to impossible to ensure proper channels are used depending on the content. You just have to bear with it.

The zone chat was intended as a free for all misc channel for whatever you feel like using it for. When there is a specilized channel like Looking for Group avalable, its recommended players use it instead to help keep things organized and most people do so. However, players aren't actually doing anything wrong if they choose to use zone instead of a different channel.

Keep in mind that on some maps, people don't pay much attention to LFG, no particular reason, its just a gamewide habbit in these places. A good example of this is in Well of Dragons where most players post their public Tiamat and Draconic Heralds ads in zone chat. Also keep in mind that certain types of advertisments do not have a specilized channel so it makes the most sense to use zone chat. A good example of this is guild recruitment ads.

If you want to answer people's questions and zone chat is really busy at that moment, just PM them, its way easier. As for talking to multiple people at a time, between party chat, guild chat, alliance chat, que group chat, tolerating having to share the zone chat, putting players that annoy you on ignore, organizing your channels via custom tabs, and making a custom channel, surely you can figure something out. Also, you can switch to a less busy map with your freinds and just use say or zone there.

Bots get banned because bots are not permitted in this game and are often put to work doing other things this game prohibits.

A good addition to the game would be adding a public Q & A channel and a conversation channel, both with the same range as zone chat. I'd advocate for that instead of asking for players to be banned for using zone the way it was intended to be used.

If somebody is "spamming" in the wrong chat and you don't like it, you always have the option of just ignoring them (right-click in their name in the chat window and select Ignore); then you'll never see them again. Problem solved.

Why would you even want to have a conversation with friends in PE anyway? The only people that have any type of conversations there, other than those asking quick questions about something, are the ones that live there,, we all know who they are so I won't mention names, the ones that you never, ever, see anywhere else in game, the flat earth theorists and armchair political analists, and let's not forget those that continually complain how bad NW is, yet we never see them out and about playing,,,, if you ask me, these people are the real Spammers, not those trying to actually get ahead in the game LFG

Lol I found his burning desire to talk to people in zone chat puzzling as well. Zone chat conversations are usually a cancerous cesspool of cess but whatever floats his boat I guess.

I have only custom channels running in guild tab... I have guild, legit, channel, and alliance.

Party and nearby chats only...

Zone lfg trade all.have been shut off for at least 2 years in my game.

you guys are not listening to what this guy has to say it gets frustrating enough to have to tell players to use lfg because all they want to do is abuse zone and if cryptic didn't allow it then we wouldn't be here making post about how bad the spam is in the game cause the gold farmers are not the only ones that do it because players do it as well so why shouldn't a player not get hit with a chat ban when they should

Looking for a group in Zone chat is not abusing Zone chat, as long as they aren't spamming the message every 5 seconds. If they are spamming (repeatedly posting the same message in a small amount of time, not sure exactly what qualifies, to be honest) feel free to report them or at the very least, put them on ignore.

We did in fact listen to what this guy had to say. Just because he did not like the answer and he doesn't agree with us does not mean that we did not understand him.

We told him why a chat ban is not given to players who "misuse" the zone chat according to his view of misuse and explained why what bots are doing is not the same as what players are doing. We told you both what the rules for the zone chat were and told y'all the purpose of those channels. While its clear you two belive Cryptic should change those rules and that the zone chat should not be a misc channel, obviously, we do not agree with you.

Closing this up as it's just one big circular argument. Zone chat has no specific purpose. People are welcome to use it for trading or lfg if they feel so inclined. If someone is spamming, report or ignore them. That's what those features are there for.
