When is companion Loyalty gear returning?

btairbornebtairborne Member Posts: 352 Arc User
This is an issue for me. I feel stuck using the same companions I've had with the loyalty gear they have on them.
I would like this worked on. Here we go another patch and still not back in the game. What kind of priority does it have if any?

Frankly I hope its way.. way down on their list.. a redo might just mean yet another HAMSTER thing we have to change.. too much HAMSTER going on as it is.

Why do you think they are going to allow them to come back in as is?

I'm hoping for another year of using them so its one less thing to worry about.

Are you serious? It's not like they removed loyal gear from the game. All putting them back in does is allow everyone to have access to them. AS it stands new players are at a disadvantage because they have to use HAMSTER gear or pay out the nose to buy loyal gear off the AH.

From what I read and listened to in the past...it will be introduced after they nerf the existing Loyal Gear to be more inline to what is available in game now. Mimicking said in a stream with Strumslinger a bit back they will be nerfing the gear and looking at ways to introduce it ingame once adjusted.

We all know if one person can not have existing items/gear in game they will be removed/changed in the name of BALANCE.

I think it will be more fair to everyone if they figure out what they are going to do and put them back in the game.

This is getting ridiculous, not putting these items back in made all the botters/script-runners a ton of AD...

Also, not a single peep about the issue since when? 4 months ago?

Who ever is responsible for this, man the HAMSTER up and put the items back, it had got to be one of the easier things on the to-do list...

They could just fix the foundry, and let it drop there!!!

Foss said that they were OP and even made a point that they were designed by someone who wasn't a Cryptic dev... don't look for them to come back. It's anyone's guess whether they'll nerf existing ones but there are a number of parallels with the old Level 60 armor sets that Cryptic nerfed not long after Foss commented on the Loyal gear.

So what's the problem here? Are you not able to finish the content using different gear on your pets? Or do you have a case of the green eyed monster going on where you want, what someone else has?

Loyal gear is jacked up but at the end of the day it's coming back nerfed. When it comes back it will NOT be what you have now... It'll come back more in line with current stats. So when it comes back with similar to lvl 70 gear at like +311 to stats will you be happy with it? No, you'll rant again about how it's HAMSTER that they brought them back...

I would also like to see the Loyal gear return. Even though I have every single piece I need and then some, I feel frustrated for newer players on PC. I think that removal of content is rarely a good way to go and, while Xbox and PS never had Gateway, at least their servers aren't divided to haves and have-nots.

the problem is people who have them currently are making a ton of money especially bots and ones who use it are doing more dps compared to those without. lots of people here are competitive

They can't even really nerf them all that hard because the adorable gear is pretty similar and that was a lockbox chase item that sold for millions.

I think that the loyal avenger gear is somewhat overpowered, but not so much that it needs to be nerfed into oblivion like the HP, HV, and Fabled sets were. Make it a rare drop from foundry, or a 1% drop BoE from CN final boss, and then all will be well again.

    EDIT - Toned Down.

Can and should are worlds apart. Lockbox items may not be held to the same level of scrutiny as gear that was farmable from SCA. As I said, it's anyone's guess. They may leave it alone.

I have some pieces myself, mostly Commander and sadly bound to characters that aren't the ones I'd prefer.

They should just make it a regular world drop, like any green or blue random item you can find, end of story.
And use some of your magic dust to tag all of them as bta too.

Well, not much to be honest. I mean, why not just add the whole stuff to the regular loot table and be done with it?
This would give everyone a fair chance in setting up their companions...

So, they're going to nerf the adorable companion equipment items too? Since those items are pretty similar to the loyal companion equipment as allready mentioned above...
Or is that out of the question, since those items come from lockboxes?

Not to mention that the regular companions die pretty quick even with loyal gear on them.

But may be a Dev could please step in, and give us a few more informations on this matter, and what they have decided to do?

From watching certain Twitch streamers play on preview, I noticed that the Mod 11 Skirmish is dropping new companion gear w 2 enchantment slots. Only saw a neck piece drop and it looks to be in line with Adorable Gear. I have no links to post...

At this point it's starting to seem like what they objected to the most was that loyal gear lets you get a lot of stats without having to slot two r12 enchants.

    ... great. :|
So another two (at least) full months before we get any fresh companion equipment in game?
Anything on what IL you're going to need to get through that new skirmish?

I posted to Player Feedback (PC) something about this very subject just a few days ago. Someone then commented they were looking at either introducing new companion gear or nerfing the Loyal gear.

    ▪ I'd even welcome a sizeable Nerf on Loyal Companion gear from the +620 or so it currently provides to two or three attributes reduced down up to 30% (+425 Armor Penetration, +425 Power, and 7.5% control bonus rather than 10%) for example. I think that would be more than FAIR.

The whole idea of introducing new Companion Gear, if they thought Loyal Gear was OP is insane. I have no problem introducing a 2nd class of companion gear, but first fix the one you've made available to players. Then you can start introducing different ways to earn the loyal and new companion gear.

OP, I do not disagree with desire for return of Loyal companion gear. There are some I would like for my alts.

But I agree with @silverkelt that this is pretty far down the list on WatchMojo.com's "Top 10 Things That Need To Be Fixed In Neverwinter Online".

Apparently they did bring back the companion gear.

But in the style of the BS underdark ring RNG. So good luck getting a +5 for your companion....

On the video interview, Thomas Foss said, the gear would return but it would be "nerfed" meanwhile, I took some time to crank out Jewel-crafting as one of my character's professions. It takes a few weeks to get up to 20 unless you are into shortcuts that cost you some AD. Once at 20 you can make personalized items with twin slots but nowhere near the same quality as the companion gear. The old stuff won't always be available in the AH either. I fail to see the need to reduce the quality of these items meant to be used only on companions. Heck, I failed to see the need to remove the Gateway but that didn't stop them.

Well, it starts to look like the real issue isn't the companion equipment but those Bonding Runestones again.
So, why not adjust those directly instead?
Companion's Gift gets reduced to 10-30%, depending on the quality of the Bonding Runestone - that should do it...

May be throw in a little buff for Eldritch Runestones, since their increase of the player stats is fixed, there might be some room to find a middle way within this whole mess.

After hearing about the new companion gear dropping from the next mod, I'm inclined to believe they are going to legacy the Companion gear as it's not game breaking. A debatable unfair advantage sure. At least something is coming!

Alot of you have way WAY more faith in this company then I do.

Who says they wont nerf them to the ground ? Just because adorable more or less gives the same?

Who says they will return them in a manner that is easy to farm? Maybe its just pure rng .. never might get the ones you want.

Who says anything.. they may return them, but at a RNG level that is unacceptable AND als nerf them to the ground.

This company doesnt apply the same logic as most of the players do.

SHEESH it would seem you all have really short memories sometimes.
