i played years ago was a avid pvper and did it well. when i left i deleted my gear and said i wouldnt come back. so i made a new account figure i prob should start over instead of being gearless and almost broke. back when i left there was a growing concern of pay2win is this a thing now? super expensive amazing stats that are almost impossible to earn in game unless you pay up? and is the warrior class finally in a good position in pvp? back when i played it took a lot of skill and was considered weak at that time if i did use my old account how would i go about getting gear? guess i should mention last time i played was mod 3.
i suggest you read through the forums, many many post detailing how broken, unbalanced the game is.
if you don't pay you'll be grinding for months just to be on par with the bottom tier people if you pvp , as people have said don't bother til at least 3000-4000 ilvl with most maxed out boons unless you want to spend your time as fodder for so called pro's who only target lesser geared people like me, i last night was pvping at 1958 ilvl lol i was targeted by 2 rouges who after killing every lowby they came across stated YOU SUCK but then ran away like little girls if they came across someone of equal gear, the person of equal gear kept saying come fight me then both of you and they kept sla.ggaing him off
I've seen players at 4.3k iLvL saying on forums that they "do not care about K/D ratio but just fun" running away from a node and shooting their water wheel to avoid being killed, where a 2.6k toon keeps coming to fight and help his team, even if it means getting killed eventually. I also see players advocating against solo queue and then spawncamping with their PvP guild premade.
How cute.
And no, the game is not fair for many reasons. One reason is that some players like it that way as long as they can say "it's not my fault" and keep pugstomping/ spawncamping with their premade friends.

quotes please who said this ? lol that actually matters and factors into the points you are trying to make ??
: do not care about K/D ratio but just fun : who exactly is saying this ...and then saying that they are not / doing the opposite ?? where can i find this information in the forums ??
I did a quick forums search I cant seem to find many players saying that expect 1 or 2 recently and they are not in a top pvp guilds be very careful about generalising so who and where are these phantom players of yours that you created ? shame on you how do you know their Ilevel ?it does not say it on the forums lol ??
so the player should just let himself die to a 2.6 k scrub and not use his artifact lol so you should not be in a guild and run with your friends ?
so you should not strategically withdraw from an over whelmed point / bad match up ? and just except the death
the biggest threat to pvp is hypocrisy then right ?? lol you can always find a player / guild that will be the exception or not to any rule you may find / create / generalise
good job at trying to sensationalise your post might want to try with facts next time lol

You won't find those posts on the forums because the mods removed them. And answering your question would get moderated for "naming & shaming." The conversation did take place however, the mods asked them to agree to disagree & move along.

Thank you sir, you saved me the time to write this.
To be clear, i actually enjoy fighting more geared enemies on my alt, it's a good training. And the BiS guy is however also very skilled. This said...It's just sad when you go fight on the node a big bad BiS toon and obviously die, and then see the guy running away like road runner when it's his turn to get killed...
PvP can be unfair, but this does not mean players can act like D-bags and spawncamp/ bully the enemies. Expecially if they say they "care about balance". It's called fair play. My team won but we were not there spawncamping the enemies. Obviously it's their "right" to run away when they lose or spawncamp when they win. It's just not a very good way to create a healthy PvP environment. To be honest, i'm pretty sure that even if gear gap is removed and the game becomes more fair, not much will change. You'll still have certain ehm..."PvP teams", spawncamping the enemies. Because there's more than gear difference between a trained and experienced PvPer, and a normal player. It's even more clear to me playing on my low gear toon. So you must try to mix them up as much as you can and avoid situations where experienced and seasoned PvPers gang up against teams of normal players. You can't just blame the "pugs" for not being as trained, or for not using the best build. The duty of the game is to balance a match. Make a match fair.
ELO, in fact, is not based on gear but on performance, to keep into account skill and experience. The BiS player in my example is very skilled. Other players of same iLvL and class i came across are much easier to handle, instead. You must allow a proper matchmaking to balance teams at the start. To have a fair PvP you need all: matchmaking to mix players and balance teams, gear gap removed, and class balance. Miss even 1 of these elements and you will still end up with poor matches and spawncamping bullies.
I think at some point in the past i suggested a "scramble" system based on performance, similar to team fortress 2. When a match is unbalanced, teams get scrambled midway and rebalanced to allow a fair fight. It would be interesting.

so i did decide to come back and start earning enchants working on boons etc. went againt a gf once in pvp (i get rekt every game as expected) 3 of my team couldnt kill him but he could kill us. he didnt die once all game. we won because he was so bad he would chase us off point for easy kills and we would kite. rest of his team got killed by our better teammates namely a cw and a dc cooperating to keep each other alive.
@abaddon#8285 I would say the GF you fought there was a pretty smart guy.
Why? Because he realized the game is lost no matter how much effort he puts into it, his team mates would destroy it anyways. There is 3 nodes - he cannot contest all of them.
He adjusted accordingly to ignore nodes and play for his own fun (Like the pugs in his team did probably) which was to farm kills.
Blame matchmaking, blame gear gap.
honestly he couldve won if he just held 1 node. it was a very close game. the fact he kept giving us back the node repeatedly to chase easy kills was the reason he lost.
It's a team based game and you must play with your team. No matter if you win or lose, as long as you can fight. He could also fight with his team mates and take down the strongest players of your team. For example, one-rotating the CW before he could kill his team mates. But you can't expect players who care only about kills, or players who stomp/ spawncamp, to understand this. They only know how to curse their team mates if they are not as strong as they need them to be, focus less geared/ weaker enemies and run from nodes as soon as they might get killed once. It's also the typical geared player you might meet in a pugstomping premade.
They blame matchmaking, undergeared players, unexperienced players and gear gap, while it's also a L2P issue on their side. They think that a MMO is to either play alone and stomp the weaker players, or gang up with their elite friends to "win". It's their way to have "fun", so you can't expect them to understand people who just care about fun fights, fair play and teamplay.
They are too smart for that. XD
