Winter Festival... Why?

Ill start by stating that this is my first winter festival. I participated in a large gift group because gift giving was highly reccomended for obtaining top level items but after many many gifts recieved I have concluded its a pointless activity not worth the hype. All you get is light of simril (a currency which buys nothing im interested in), refining points for beacon of simril (not a very good artifact), and stars to get more gifts. So if anyone can tell me what the driving purpose behind gift groups is please enlighten me since everyones doing it and the must be another purpose im failing to recognize.

I'm sorry rng has not been on your side but people have received worthwhile items. Whilst I've only had a respec token (which is good as I use quite a few), members of my guild have received mounts, companions and other items.

You can target your efforts if you see something at one of the local vendors you like. Personally I prefer prizes you can work for rather than 'open stuff and hope' and that's where I'm spending my time. I'm aiming for a demon sled for one of my characters and the sprites are useful for builds that need high AP gain. I'm also nearing getting him the highest tier of fishing pole which you can use in future Winter events too so it's worth hanging on to.

I often don't bother with events but this is one I do put a little effort into.

Whats RNG? There are sooo many acrynams in this game, just when i feel ive learned them all im hit with even more lol

Random Number Generator aka RNGeesus. The chance to get good drops in-game (artifacts, packs/monts from lockboxes, etc) was designed by the devs in a way it is ridiculously low. I think the chance to get something good from RNGeesus is well below 1%, like 0.02% or something like that (probably way lower than that). To give you an example, there are people who have been running the new Castle Never since it was released and they are yet to get Orcus' shard of wand (the artifact) from it. I ran that dungeon hundreds of times maybe and a few months ago I got 2 shards and 2 lostmauth horns in 5 days. Also I got like 6 or 8 +5 legendary rings from there as well. After that though, all I get when I run is garbage only.

1% Is too high, 0.3 would be the highest for orcus shard since the boss n' chests. :P But as of now maybe lower
