How to remove a quest no longer available.

I picked up the quest "Join the masquerade" but was unable to turn it in as I swapped characters. Now the period to turn in the quest has expired but the quest remains in my journal. The worst part about it is that when I click into it there is no "abandon" option.

I am annoyingly directed to turn in the quest when it is no longer possible and my other quests tend to be in queue after it on occasions.

Please let me know how to remove Join the masquerade from my journal.
