I am going to try to catalogue my experience trying to become competitive in pvp. I usually have bad experience in pvp, but I try to improve my situation by doing at least one match each time I log on.
I play a fully Righteous DC Divine Oracle.
My item level is 2,525.
I have the drowned weapon set, refined up to blue level, with a Feytouch Enchant (not greater or lesser, just Feytouch, right in the middle)
I have a lionsmane helmet
I have Warborn armor with Elven Battle Enchant (not greater or lesser, just Elven, right in the middle)
I have Warborn boots, to get the 2 piece bonus of +500 tenacity
I have Elemental Burning bracers
I have Prestige boots, but I am not using them right now because I want the 2 piece set bonus of the Warborn set. I will replace as I get more pieces of the Prestige set.
I have Lionsmane necklace (I could use Tiamat necklace, currently refined to purple level
I have 2 Lionsmane rings
I have the Tiamat Belt, refined up to purple level
I have gemmed purple shirt and pants
My total tenacity is a little over 4,000.
I have about 170K AD.
My enchants in everything are all r7, with a couple r8.
For artifacts I have purple lantern, purple Tiamat orb, and 2 purple sigils (DC and CW I believe)
My companions are blue/green. I do not have any bonding stones.
My campaign boons are about 75% done.
I am using Break the Spirit, Forgemaster Flame, and Astral Shield as my encounters in pvp.
I die constantly in pvp, usually 10+ times while the rest of my team will usually die 2-3 times. I get very few, usually 0, kills. I currently have about 12,200 glory and 320 seals of triumph. My hope is that I can eventually become competitive without shelling out massive cash.
My plan is when I finally get to 19,000 glory and 400 seals, to purchase the Prestige bracers. I am also saving up refinement from leadership profession (level 25) to try to push my drowned weapon set and at least one artifact to a higher level. But I am open to suggestions.
Yesterday I logged on and did 2 domination matches. Both times I was in a pug group facing the exact same 5 man premade all from the same guild. They were item level 3.8K-4.2K. My team was item level 1.8K-3.2K. Both matches' competitive phase ended almost immediately, but thankfully the guild premade was kind enough to let us cap to get at least 600 points so we could get some rewards. My reward for each match was about 108 glory. No seals of victory today, but I'm hopeful that in the time it takes to go from 12K glory to 19K glory I will land on the overpowered team at least twice to get up to 400 seals.
So that is where I am and where I am headed. I post it here to see if the community has thoughts on anything I might change (besides "spend lots of $" or "quit pvp") My ultimate goal is to stay a Righteous DC, and be able to actually be competitive in damaging while not constantly dying in 2-3 hits.
Who knows, maybe in a match later today when I log on I'll get lucky

Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, Life is but a dream.
there is like 1 out of 10 matches you can win, if you are playing just for fun.
DC suffer from low contorl, deflect can help you with that.
you should get PVP artifact such as oghma (SW sigil got nice stat)
try to get good mount combos, i use yeth and snowswift and they works nice in PVP
get R8 silvery and refine it R9. its cheap and easy to get.
As DC u are allways the first target cause you can heal and protect others. use that for your advantage.
u can drag strong players outside the nod. hide behind other players.
healing can help in some situation.
sometime all u need is to survive a 1 on 1 situation for a few min and you win.
i who'd recomend playing rightous to get all boons fast. after that playing healer is easy and most recomeded for PVP
I looked at the Oghma artifact. It looks very nice but is currently going for about 680K AD, which is a bit out of my price range for now. Does it drop from anywhere or is it only from the Zen store random boxes?
I am also looking into jewelcrafting master profession to make some rosegold rings, but I have the lionsmane rings and am not sure the gain is so much to be worth the investment.
it have good stat and it works great. but two in a party can be a problem as it got 1 min cool down.
if u plan on buying artifact look at the stat as well.
