I apologize ahead of time if this has already been answered (for some reason I can't do a search). I recently hit 70 and got the task to fill the heart of water with motes. Have done 5 heroics in DS but only got 2 motes. Does it have to be the Crabs heroic or can it be any of them that pop up in the zone?

1) Save the merchant - merchants are not always there or the enemies
2) Save the elves - elves are not always there
These two heroics required me to use 3 wands and spend another 2 hours in drowned shores on my GF. What a waste of time that was. If the heroic did not have issues I would have only used 2 wands. I even did 3 crab encounters when my wands were on cool down.
Overall it is not all that bad but I hated wasting 30K AD to get a third wand.
I have a third character I'm working on ATM but not sure if I want the burning or the drowned set. I am leaning towards drowned as it would help me out as a CW to stay alive long when hit. But at the same time the burning set provides 25% of your AP after using a daily. Not sure which set I will go with on my CW.

But yeah I suppose it has a lot to do with your DPS and move speed as well (or more importantly, mount speed). I was doing this on a TR that was already relatively decked for the end-game so it may have been much faster than a fresh 70 could manage.
But you might not want twisted, and I respect that. The experience of grinding out water motes is a whole lot better than the others (fire jeebus, and the other two are kind of ghost towns which also slows you down).
I found switching instances did not always work in my favor and resulted in me wasting time.
Like I said, if those two encounters worked I would have only used 2 wands instead of 3. I only needed 1 charge from that 3rd wand.

As for simply buying your way to end game, I have seen plenty of bad 3K players. I mean at 2600 I destroyed a GWF who was 3.3K. I left that instance knowing I was in healing mode and not playing to my full DPS potential as a DC.
That player admitted he bought his way to IL 3K+. He was powered level, paid his way to gear, paid his way to get items refined, paid his way for enchantments, etc...end results was he had a high IL, no boons and was a garbage player. He was smart enough to ask the 1.9K GWF who beat me by 5 million for help.
I stated this in another MMO game, skill is required. I don't care if you have the highest IL and all the boons. If you don't know how to play your class you will not perform at the highest possible level and that only hurts you and your group. And this game, I can state 100% that you can buy your way to the top but it does not mean anything.
Give me the players who farmed for the item. While they are farming they have time to fine tune their character and improve as a player.

Side note, I knocked out the water motes over the weekend right quick. Had a bunch of people in like 5 different groups. Someone would call out an instance that crabs was up, everyone would jump to it, finish the epic, rinse and repeat. Never used a wand.
If you have the TB's from vip then there's zero cost to you. New L70's should farm for these weapons as one of their first priorities, they'll be effective right up until they get their IL high enough to farm edemo for Twisted.
Speaking as a person who has 3 characters over 3k (and another 3 of around 2.5-2.7k) I have never spent any real money on character development so I'm very aware of the time / earnings / cost ratios.
