What's the point of "dragon" gear?

When my main was around lvl 60 I couldn't afford the gear sold by the dwarf hanging around the "Tyranny of Dragons" quest givers in Protectors Enclave because I was missing parts you normaly only get when doing "Well of Dragons" quests. And this as you know one can only enter starting at level 70.

Now that I am at level 70 and have obtained several of said parts I find the gear highly irrelevant since it's level 60 gear and meanwhile I obtained better gear. My alts are now at level 60, so they face the same problem.

So, what's the point of this gear anyway? Am I missing some important part?

    In Dread Ring, Sharadar, and Wells of the Dragon all have leve 60 gear. You can buy the gear for alts, this will allow you to distribute the gear to alts so they have gear that levels up with them from level 60-70. I did this with my GF. My GF had the gear from Dread Ring from level 60-70 and at 70 I went and got the gear I bought for me.

    The gear was made for PC players back in the day when level 60 was the cap.

    True but now you can buy it and use it for alts for leveling as I mentioned. Or if you like the style, you buy it and transmutate your gear to the style.

    The gear also scales to level 70/item level 115. Great if you don't have or need something to hold you until you get drowcraft/dusk gear or protector seal gear.

    FYI: The gear from Sharandar and Dread Ring scales in a similar manner.

    You *gotta* be kidding me. I always went for the shop and actually *overlooked* the "Show equipment for other classes" option. Thank you so much.

    Yeah, that's about what I use it for as well....gearing alts that I either don't have the time for getting better gear or just say "meh.."

    Oh, and that option exists for drowcraft and seal gear as well.

    Yeah, once I figured that out with the ToD gear, I went and (re-) discovered this with the other ones. I now remember once seeing this a few weeks ago. Just forgot all about it since it wasn't useful then. I think, it even works with Black Ice gear.
