I have been playing Neverwinter since the day it came out non stop on PS4! I do have to say it is the best game of all time. Final Fantasy 7 was my favorite until this came out! All of the people who complain and moan about the "LAG & ISSUES"!!! Need to stop complaining the game is free to play yes you can spend real money if you wish to have some things if you want but to play is free! So stop complaining it is rude and wrong to the makers of the game who let us play! So enjoy your experiences and game time! Remember this is an amazing game and it is "FREE"!!!

Best game of all time IMO is the Baldur Gate and Baldur Gate: Shadow of Amn. Those games really nailed the D&D experience IMO. The developer, BIOWARE, did a fantastic job with those games with Easter Eggs, engagement with party members, party banter, etc... I loved those games and BIOWARE continues to deliver great games for the most part. I play all of there titles on release and beat all of them 3-4 times if not more.
My 2nd favorite series is also a BIOWARE product, Dragon Age. I loved Origins and enjoyed Inquisition. I don't hate DA:2 like others, I just think they tried something new and it simply did not work for them.
My 3rd favorite series is Mass Effect. First game was a true space RPG, second moved towards a mixture of RPG and FPS and the final was more towards FPS with some RPG elements. All 3 games were enjoyable due to the stories BIOWARE develops.
As for MMOs, most lack stories or depth due to the nature of MMOs. This game has some back stories and characters thanks to the books and other games that D&D has had over the years. I'm glad they have it and the solo content is enjoyable. Better than other MMOs from my experience. However, it is still a MMO and within a few days (3-4) you are at end game.
The fantasy RPGs mentioned above are far more engaging and longer than this game is. I really wish we had more content like the leveling missions, and EE. I liked how those flowed and the allowed us to engage in the game world.
Maybe the next update we will get more story driven content, we can only hope, right.
I couldn't agree with you more about the BG series - I can't even begin to count how many times I played those games. Followed always by IWD and IWD2. I even owned Planescape Torment but my computer died and ate it before I finished it.
Dragon Age Origins is how you make a game. Everything was right, it felt epic, you started at a true beginning, and the choices you made changed the world around you. The companions were fantastic (even the ones I hated) and the end was satisfying even if you made certain choices. I enjoyed DA2 and DAI but both lacked a feel that the first one had. I also spend a ridiculous amount of time in DAI Multiplayer.
I will be honest - this is the first MMO that I have actually enjoyed playing so this one does win "Raven's favorite MMO" title. I would have liked for my choices as a character in this game to have affected my standing in the world a little more. I get almost the same dialogue no matter what my race, or background. I have people complaining to me about killing all the evil Drow when I'm standing there in front of them in all of my Drow glory. My Tiefling is being talked to about the horrors of demons when I'm standing there with horns growing out of my head. Ah well, perfection is something to aspire for - not achieve.

I am now only playing NW. A few things here and there could make it better but over all a solid game.
I did try Star Trek and did not like the fighting in space part of the game, felt lame IMO.
Like I tell people if I like something I will have no problem dropping money down on it. So far around 500-600 down on this game. I like it that much and my wife gives me faces all the time when she see the CC bill. She is like, it is a game. You don't need to spend a dime more on it, jeez. I'm like ok, so our spending on exercise equipment but you not using them and paying for a gym membership is working out well right. I mean hundreds into equipment that sits and collects dust because you rather go to the gym did wonders as well. And she continues looking at equipment and has big plans for her next purchase. Agh...
Me exercise is P90X. 1 hour or so and I'm done. Total cost with weights and video around $300. One time and that was it. Hers is 4 years now of membership along with her annual purchase of 1 or 2 pieces of equipment that she never uses.
Like I tell people, if you enjoy something who cares how much you put into it, as long as you think you are getting your money's worth.
I mean a 2 hour movie at the movie theater with popcorn and drinks now is around $30+ for one movie. I rather buy a 20 pack of keys and a new companion in NW for that price.

Been playing video games since the 70's, and quite long in the tooth with MMO's as well -- dating back to Ultima Online (Pre-Trammel), Asheron's Call, Shadowbane, Dark Age of Camelot, Everquest, Age of Conan, Warhammer, and on and on.
This one takes the cake for me, since I enjoy the lore, quests, environments, NPC's, the PvP, and dungeon crawling. There's an awful lot of positives about this game, and it tickles my inner fancy - along with childhood recollections. There's still a lot of things to fix, mostly technical problems, but I will be this game for the long haul.
It's easy to come up with a list of issues but but that ignores the fact that even with them the game is very good. It's entirely possible for Cryptic to take the game from VG to Legendary status - they could make it the game everyone still talks about 20 years from now.
The background, detail, balance, original artwork and sheer scale of thought that went into the first few mods is something they need to revisit (most content since then is borrowed from old stuff with a new bit of story wrapped around it). I'd love to see these guys bring out not just another mod/update, but a rework that encompasses everything from the ground up. A NW2 if you like.

I would like to see them create NEW content of their own. Most of what is here is from the lore and I like that. But I would like some unique things they create on their own, not using Forgotten Realm lore.
There's a ton of good games out there old & new. Think my next new pick up will be the next Deus Ex if my family is listening to my preemptive Christmas list. It's a great time to be a gamer, imo
This game is great fun too...I can get enough of it & enjoy the rewards of play....though sometimes I wonder why it's necessary. Sometimes I feel guilty for playing & enjoying it as its cost me very little (bought a vip & heirloom weapon pack) but then again, don't look a gift horse (or polar bear mount) in the mouth. I guess it personal & based off of perspective, what I'm saying is I'm a fan of this game too
I believe Cryptic are somewhat restricted by WOTC in what they can come up with as the game is licensed by them & they do work fairly closely.

North West: Waterdeep and Sword Coast
North: Dalelands
North East: Great Dales and Horedlands
Central: Shining Isles
East: Thay (we already go there but I want to see more of it)
Each area can result in multitude of DLCs. I mean Amn along could be 4 if not DLC worth of content.
A friend of mine was talking last night about how he wished there were free roam forested areas - wild elven lands to wander around.
A second friend piped in that he wanted to go to Thay for more than one castle/dungeon.
Was the Citadel of Ten Thousand Pearls in Faerun? If so I would LOVE to see that place.

This game for its age is much bigger open world wise than some other MMO games I played and those games were older.
We should be happy for a few reasons.
1) Game is on console extending its shelf life
2) Game has million of players - almost as much as WOW (would love to play with both PC and XBox players on one server)
3) Money should not be an issue given exchange of Zen to AD and players buying Zen to purchase cosmetic things like mounts
4) Pack - hopefully they release more of them - I like stuff I can use on more than one character
5) Lore - They have plenty of Forgotten Realm lore to use and the land size is pretty good - hopefully they use it
To me, this game will be around for quite some time. Hoping they continue to give us some good content, cool items and expanding the game with new classes, races, and areas.
So far, I wouldn't say I got my money's worth yet, because I invested quite a bit, but I would say that I am enjoying the quite a bit.
