Paladin Binding Oath

Ok so, I don't know if I skipped this topic or if it doesn't exist, but I need a better explanation of the Oathbound Paladin's Binding Oath Encounter. My problem is that I just ran a dungeon with a cleric guildmate and he had a hulk attacking him. So naturally I tried to use binding oath to aggro the hulk, but it refused to attack me and instead chased my guildmate around the room. Is this encounter broke or am I missing something?

I find that Binding Oath instead of 'forcing' enemies to attack you (as the skill says) it's more of a 'suggestion'... I suspect it increases your threat output but not substantially so yes you could call it broken.

The only real way I've found to really increase your threat is to increase your dps by adding armor penetration. The only thing you could've done in that situation is to hit Templars Wrath and stun the hulk. What would've also helped is if your DC used Break the Spirit which would have reduced their threat to the target - or stopped using heal skills for a few seconds and ran around you - he would've stopped generating threat and the enemy would've peeled off onto you.

  • Ok, thanks for the info, guess I should have gone to Guardian Fighter for a tank. O well now I know.

Oath Strike actually works for threat, also the Dread Warrior companion helps.
