Okay so everybody is always looking for either a tank or a healer... but isnt a healdin both at the same time... I'm lookin 2 create a new character and it will be a tank or healer, im focused on end game so what would be the best choice?
tank pally and healer pallys are different paths. pallys have a very difficult time holding aggro. personally I would go healadin if I wanted to use a pally and I'd go gf If I wanted to tank.
Most people in game tend to want a DC buff spec, so that's what I want. There's some content that a healadin would be better at.. Ie: healing a low geared group or people who take alot of damage.. Or demo(people take alot of damage), but people still want a DC buffer for demo because of the buffs it offers. New content coming out might change things, but I rarely hear people asking for a healadin.
actually for heals straight up heals the healadin is better than the dc. the dc holds it's own for minor heals and buff debuff later on in the game.
I keep hearing that Healdin are superior to DC for healing. Why is that?
If I go all heals, timed healing moves using the Divinity encounters pretty much ensure as a DC I have a healing ability always ready. I'm pretty sure I can I can keep up or out heal any Pally.
Why I think DC can out heal a Healdin.
1) Astral Seal 2) Divinity Mode 3) HoT Paragon Path or Burst Healing path 4) Self abilities to improve healing and drop a heal every 3 seconds
Don't get me wrong, Pally is a good healer but as far as I can tell, DC can really shine in healing if you went a pure healing path. The problem I see is most group don't want a PURE healer. They want a DC for buffing/debuffing along with a GF for the same purpose.
GF ITF is so OP that it is crazy how strong that is and it is crazy that most groups seek GF just for that one ability. As for DC, BoB is also so OP and you mix that along ITF and you get a very high damage boost for your DPS from your two support roles.
I ran Malaborg Castle last night and it was me as a DC along with a GF. Talk about a buffing team. Between DG, BoB, ITF, etc... we breezed through it no problem.
My healadin out heals our all-healing clerics - however I cannot buff my cohorts the way the cleric can. So if we are going straight heals, I win. If we are looking for heals + Buffs, they win.
I will say that I don't often win by much so in the grand scheme of things, especially toward the end game with stronger players the cleric is probably more useful than the healadin.

I have to state this though, what drives heals are two stats: Critical Strike Chance and Power. I'm sitting at around 40% crit without my ring bonus that can push it up to around 60% crit. As for my power, I'm close to hitting 14K, which really boost my heals and damage out as a DC.
DC and GF are better suited to play the support roles given their ability to buff the groups.
I bet there is a healdin that can buff, but it probably cost them in the healing department.
What paragon path did you go with? Did you go Justice for your pally or did you pick another path? The Justice path allows you to buff your group up by improving recovery and resetting encounters.
Just like a DC I have three areas I could focus on. One goes for HoT, the second is for stronger Burst and the last one is the buffing/debuffing route.
I imagine the Justice path could work for both Tank and Healing pally. It is sort of your DPS path to say the least.
Yeah eventually she will get a respec - when we all first started entering the epics we needed all healing all the time so I went 100% heals. Now that my friends are stronger I'm going to respect her into either healing/dps or tank/healer

ETOS the other day on my Healadin with a DC, OP tank and 2 DPS. You might think it was slow with 2 healers and no GF but it went smooth and fast enough. I was 1st on heals (double the amount of the DC who was a 3k DC and I am a 3k Healadin), 2nd on damage taken and 3rd on DPS. Basically I was the off tank and main heal, even thought I chose powers for max damage. I could have tanked it and gotten a 3rd DPS now that I look back. DC ended up being back up heal and main buffer even though plan was to be main heal as well.

Do you know how the DC was spec? If I redid my character I could easily boost my healing out and make myself a superb healer. The thing is though most DC are spec in the Righteous path, which is the buffing/debuffing path. Also, personals make a difference in healing. Going with higher % healing and the ability that heals everyone within 50' of you every 3 seconds increases a DC healing out.
Like I stated, the path you pick determines how strong of a healer you are.
As for your paladin are you a Justice or did you go with the healing path? If you took the healing path than you are setup for stronger heals.
Both DC and OP are good healers. Most groups wants a DC over an OP due to the debuffing and buffing it offers. The same is true with GF and OP tanks. Most groups prefer GF tanks for the simple fact they offer the group a strong buff ability.

and because GF taunts actually work. everyone over looks that when comparing GF to OP for tank viability. the GF can pull mobs off an over-eager DPS with the push of a button. the OP can't. at least, not until a few bugs get fixed.
I've been playing a DC healer since i've started (on ps4) and i have yet to be beaten by a pally in terms of heals. They don't even come close to me and most of the time when they do i'm still on the top of the list in terms of heals. Idk i think people just say the pally heals better because at the serious end game content they expect all DCs to be buffers instead of healers and let the pally worry about heals

I don't think it has anything to do with the taunt but more to do with the buff. If a GF can buff your damage by say 80% and keep that up indefinitely almost why select a paladin? The buff does not only buff damage but speed and AP generation and both of those can really help a group out.

As you pointed out the DC is mostly buffing and debuffing. The reason is how strong out buffs are. Now I done Tiamat about 10x if not more now and I never get beat in healing. I usually walk away with over 8M in heals out.
Astral Seal, DG, Healing Word and Bastion are my primary heals for that fight. I use BoB every 15 seconds or so, whenever the buff drops.
In one Tiamat gold run I was 3rd in damage using the above loadout. Simply from using DG when I used the Divinity Mechanic. I was hitting around 50K in dmg with each DG. My AS was hitting for about 5-10K per a hit.
When I play Epic Dungeons I go in with my normal solo loadout and before the first boss I make adjustments based on how the group performed. One run I had to make zero changes. Group was that good and it allowed me to be 2nd on the damage board, top in heals and 2nd in taking in the most damage. I was more than doubled in damage by a SW using the Damnation tree but with the Pet. That should be expected given how strong that class is as a DPS and DC are well one of the weakest, right next to GF.

no no let me stop you right there pally tanks do not have a hard time holding agro that comment is completely dishonest and untrue i used to think that pally tanks were trash and not good at all until i met a friend who has one as his main and his tank build is pretty godly ive never seen him lose agro ever so much so i actually made a pally tank with his build im guessing you A. have never played the pally or B never played one or been in a game with anyone with a good build to be honest id rather play with a good pally than a gf because they never die and the gf tank in later content can be pretty useless without a healer and the way pug lobbys like to put me into lobbys with me a CW 3x hr & a tr at least a pally tank still has the ability to heal the players

just be aware as you level the pally that the healer side takes soooo long to kill enemys so unless your going to power level all the way i would first go the tank route because even though it takes longer to kill enemys than most classes going the healer route first takes forever both are good i really like the tank but just get to 70 then change it up and play both before you decide its the best way both are really good also dont listen to people who hate on pally tanks try it for yourself

So what is the build? I play an OP tank and struggle to hold aggro.
