A cautionary tale for eager Salvagers ......

Like most people I had bags of salvage & eagerly awaiting the chance at Double AD.

There I was quite happily clicking through the items salvaging them at speed so I could get on with farming, then I noticed a pair of boots gave me more salvage than I expected.

I'd obviously double clicked on a pair of boots equipping them & salvaging my usually equipped item. Dragonflight boots. Oh & they were Elemental. Oh & they were reinforced. Oh & they had a level ten movement enchantment.

I know its my fault for not checking just thought I'd post this to remind people to be more careful than I was

Did something like that before. Glad I live alone. Nobody heard what I said. I think that my late grandmother would have came back and washed my mouth out with soap.

Well, it could be worse. They could have been hand-crafted by your grandfather who died in the war.

No, this was totally my fault. Just meant as a heads up to others.

Ouch that sucks. Worst I've done this time around (so far) has been to accidentally discard 2 pieces of salvage while salvaging. The discard button really needs to be placed away from the salvage button (like it used to be).

By the way TC you seem quite a reasonable person. I would suggest putting in a ticket with Support via these forums. Explain your situation and they may be able to replace what was lost.

They of course may just say sorry no can help. But out of the 5 things I raised with support, 2 of them they helped me with and was amazing. The other 3 things were just little silly things and no big loss.

Anyway worth a try even if they say no, they have been known to replace some lost items on a bind to character basis. I mean you did not loose too much in the Grand Scheme of things but a Rank 10 rune is fairly pricey or a long time to make.

Just wanted to revive this, but for RP event rather than AD.

    I just got REALLY lucky...

I did my basic refining yesterday, spending ages filling up all the artifacts and enchantments I needed to do.
Today I went through the finalising.
I had a Rank 8 bonding filled up, and had transformed a 7 into an 8 to build a 9... made sure my toon had the Potency on them, and pressed refine...
In a nano second I went from blind panic to self loathing, and then to pure relief as my wardless transformation somehow worked.

As with salvage... DON'T RUSH THAT HAMSTER!

I have discarded in error an epic lvl 137 item (almost legendary) and salvaged an epic elemental weapon (part of a set) in error. I have contacted support and asked them to do something about the discard & salvage buttons and they suggested I raise the issue on the forum.

This issue is so easily fixed that I suspect that ARC are not correcting it on purpose! They know players are discarding/salvaging their items in error on occasion. Pleople contact them about it all the time. Trust me

To discard/salvage an item, the controller input is usually pressing 'A' then 'A' again to confirm. This is sequential (A then A again) Players that are therefore rushing or hurrying can easily discard the item before consciously realizing what they have done!. Everything on neverwinter is timed. Buffs, potions, invocations events everything!. The game mechanics encourage players to subconsiously rush, or feel a sense of urgency when playing. Your then blamed when you inevitably make a mistake.

Everyone please note that within the Zen Market this problem doesn't exist. Foreinstance, you cant accidentally 'purchase' something on the Zen market. The controller command input required isn't sequential here! You have to press 'A' then 'X' button here to confirm, i.e the confirm button isn't the same as the button pressed before it. This is what they should be doing for salvage/discard. Problem solved. Discarded/salvaged items item should be a matter of record and not even open to abuse in the first place and should definitely be replaced. They represent an large investment of time and money on the players part.

Of course it is very lucrative and profitable for Perfect World/ARC to not correct this issue. Un-replaced item's have to be replaced by the player at a large cost of time or money , often both. Either that or walk away from the game altogether and your investment in it completely.

Whilst I get your point I accepted at the time it was my fault & stand by it. I was in a rush & not concentrating. Totally my fault.

Although I do see how your idea would eliminate that, but then others would then no doubt start to complain that it makes salvaging take too long!!

Its not a question of blame, or shouldn't be. This issue can be stopped easily and they are not doing it. Ever accidentally purchased an item on the Zen Market? No. Why? Because there is a different confirmation dynamic. Think about it.

Of course people make mistakes. That's not what I'm talking about.

Complaining about the time involved having to press 'X' instead of 'A' in a command sequence is ridiculous and anyone doing that probably lacks perspective.

He's entitled to his stuff back. He made a mistake (in game) and its support's job to help him fix it! All they need to do is check the player/system log for the day the incident happened to verify what he is telling them.

Your comment says more about you and your own morality then it does about the person your commenting on. Is that what you would do? Did you ever consider he may just want his investment of time/money/RP/AD back? How are you helping the community exactly? By expressing your extremely pessimistic views? That's not helpful or constructive.

Settle down fella. I screwed up & don't expect anything back, never asked for it or said I deserved it. The original post was clearly a heads up to others to try & avoid making a similar error.

Personally I find its your attitude is what's wrong, people who screw up & then expect it all to be sorted out rather than take responsibility for their actions. And what exactly is helpful or constructive about your comments?
