So I have the panther companion, his name is Battle Cat - we go way back and I love him dearly. Even though there are better companions out there for my character, I'm rather attached to him since he has saved my rear on many occasions.
He's also ornery and will fight ANYTHING - I'll be trucking across the landscape and he's clear on the other side of the map fighting something that mean mugged him as we passed by. He never hesitates to jump into battle and he is very committed to knocking things over.
As a player looking at this logically there is nothing about him that is supposed to be an aggro magnet. It makes sense when it's just he and I that he would pull more aggro than me. But when we are with a tank - the tank shouldn't have any issues pulling aggro. Yet my panther can take aggro from a tank. And a good tank at that. I finally had to start putting the panther away in LoL before the scorpions because he kept pulling one of them. The other night we were in Demo and one of my friends says "Who's tanking Demo?" and another replies with "Apparently Raven's Panther" and I look over and sure enough he's over there tanking Demo by himself.
So my question is this - do other people have this issue with their Panthers? And is this something that they are supposed to do? I looked through his skills and unless I'm missing something, apart from his attacking there isn't anything on him that should be an aggro magnet.
Is my panther broken?

Who else do you have as active companions....any of them really nuke your threat level? That would maybe explain why things key on him when doing stuff solo, but wouldn't make much sense for your group stuff where he out draws your groups tank!
Pretty curious of this myself......sitting on enough resources to upgrade one of my 30's I've gotten through packs but not sure if I want to
Oh and my panther does this one both my Pally and my TR - so I guess maybe he is supposed to be a tank even though he's a striker.

As a DC I recommend any companion that will boost your Power, Recovery and Critical Strike.
As for the Panther, he is best suited for HR, CW, and GF due to the 10% extra damage when an enemy is prone.
One thing I learned is that you need to use your AD to get the companions you want or convert the AD into Zen to buy them off the market.
For instance my GF has Watler, Blacksmith, Shield Maiden, Man-at-Arms, and I plan to get the the Shadow Demon.
You have to look at the active stats to see if they are worth it for your class and build; if not, get a different companion.
This makes it so I can't use him in the dread ring. When doing the first demonic encounter where you have to defeat the waves of enemies he always turns the last demon. That demon, now a temporary werewolf, then runs to the nearest enemies and starts fighting. He changes back and brings a new group of enemies back with him. While this is happening we can't kill him to start the next wave of the encounter. This happened each wave so by the end the demon was running all the way up to the big black ball and fighting enemies there. I don't think anyone else understood what was happening because everyone thinks the wolf is a wererat thief since they look the same.
So yeah I love the wolf but would like it if the infected enemies wouldn't be so aggressive about hunting down enemies
Normal companion will attack any enemy he see even if you are not in range. Augment won't do a thing.
My GF has no issues with random adds as he uses Watler regulary; however, my DC is swam by adds due to my companion.
