Icewind Dale Starter Quest

I think that I may have made a mistake. I earned my third boon for the Dread Ring, and it said I was strong enough to start on the Icewind Dale Campaign. It then said to talk to Sgt Knox. So, I tried that and he didn't have a quest. I did a little googling and I had actually already done part of that quest, and I think that I may have accidentally discarded a token I needed to progress. If there isn't an item necessary to progress onto one of those quests then I have no idea what is wrong. When I try to go past the gate the two zones are locked, and there are no available quests that I can find.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  • You need to take quests from either Ten Towns or the Arcane Brotherhood before you can go into Icewind Pass, and you won't be able to access Dwarven Valley until you progress further in the Icewind campaign. Just look around the market place, the people you need to speak to are somewhere in the middle.

It is a temporary contract and it expires. I have had to get it twice now after 2 days of not doing ID campaign.

Hi - I'm kinda in the same boat. I had started the initial questline a few days ago and now just went back to it today. I did speak to one of the faction people, but I don't have any new daily quests. The only ones I have for Icewind Dale are Demon Hunting and "Complete 3 quests in Icewind Dale". Someone said that I may need to submit a ticket to have something unlocked...is that true?

Same thing happened to me. I got around this by abandoning the quests I didn't complete, and picking them up again. I was able to access the the questable areas after that. Good luck.

Please try abandoning all your Icewind Dale quests and then see if you can pick them back up. If this doesn't work, please file a support ticket. Please also note that due to the holiday, there may be a delay in getting a response from support.
My opinions are my own. I do not work for PWE or Cryptic. - Forum Rules - Protector's Enclave Discord - I play on Xbox

That may work but: in my experience DO NOT ABANDON ANY YELLOW QUESTS. You can drop blue quests all day 'errday, but don't mess around with yellow. It's possible some yellow quests get so borked you have to drop and re-take, but more often you just have to find the right NPC to pick it back up. It's risky to drop because this game has on several occasions had quest lines that can get screwed if you drop them.

@mike#3500 i recommend you grab a PVP contract (AB or TT, lets you go to Ice Wind Pass) and see about following the main road to the camp in the middle of the map (looks like a little town, a bit south of the PVP zone). Part of the intro sequence relies on doing a quest there, and possibly picking up the next step there as well. It's worth a shot seeing if anything can be picked up / turned in etc.
