You're right, there aren't many WKs still about. A lot of the old school players (demonmonger, lemonchill, kweassa, rustlord, morenthor, drkbodhi, etc) seldom post anymore. Not to mention that the meta is definitely MI Exe right now.
We'll see if the class balancing changes anything; I'm hoping it does. In the meantime, what path were you going for? Some of us might be able to help out
Any option is better than no options, so... Saboteur - served me well m6-m9. Dying breath/Deathknell is debatable, kinda pve/pvp choise. T5 - Ambusher/Shadowy Opportunity... SO goes for CoS - sort of "hold the button till it dies", AH - better for DhS, though cast-time matters.
STR+CHA, power+recovery. Human's +3 heroic points goes to disciple of strength/scoundrel training.
Just put it all together (preview server preferable), rollface keyboard for a couple of days and you'll get the idea. I guess. Therefore, it's a knife edge in 70+ pve. You've got to be quick and alert (or geared...) or you'll need smth else. I warned.
After some time i found out that scoundrel can do same things with less... not attention, rather "less buttons pressed". So - Scoundrel. It amazes me of how i was able to play sabo. DEX+CHA, power+crit. pve - BF+SB+WR, DF+DhS/SF, AdvPos+Tenacious Concealment, Lurker+Whirlwind. TC 4/4 - can't think of better choise. OD - yes, seems nice, though it's like 1-2% of total damage (at the other hand - add offhand bonus - and that's a way as well). WR/DS/LB... yep, Dying Breath+CA bonus+CritSeverity boons+vorpal give you cool numbers all other the screen. WR is more party-oriented.
p.s. Can't say if that helps - at least it's a starting point and might serve you some time. exe... for some reason i just can't stand that path.
From a purely PvE perspective, and as Exe path, ItC is definitely the biggie I notice between the 2 paths when I swap around, and translates to my biggest dps loss (or addition, depending which way you go). I can't count the number of times I finish my 2 swings as part of the DF flurry chain, and the big baddie chooses that moment as the time for a big red AoE. With ItC I can just pop that and go about my business, not missing a beat on popping off a SoD; without it, it's a bail scenerio and a ton of dps lost.
The other biggie, of course, is the insta-stealth refill after a daily thanks to Invis Infil, not to mention it's free crazy damage boost. And the free 3-sec CC immunity thanks to the OH arti power (which, again, helps you get those SoDs off).
On the plus side, as a WK you're definitely sturdier thanks to DHS + AdvPos arti power, and I've always been able to tackle content above me easier as a WK than as an MI - and this may help out newer players in campaigns such as IWD, WoD, and the newer STK.
That said, there's still a place for WK builds and I hope the original poster toys around with them. It's a fun and challenging path for sure.
I'm also, as I pointed out already, hoping for a class balance rework for the TR, and a lot of the powers I feel are lacking tend to be in the WK area.
the cc immunity bonus from off hand is not working tho. the only reason i found to play as wk is how fun is vengeance pursuit... i just gave up because it feels so slow without the chance to slot skillful
^^ Correct. I think there was some confusion there as I mentioned 2 offhand powers in my previous post.
The one for AdvPos makes WK very tempting, as you become quite tanky.
The one for Invisible Infiltrator for MI is the 3-sec CC immunity, which I had always presumed worked - but now Rayrdan has me second-guessing. Might do some testing this weekend if I have a chance, unless someone's already done it?
