Any way to play on PC with a controller?

I'm an Xbox player who would like to make a character on PC but I really dislike playing with key and mouse. I feel uncoordinated on it. Is there a guide anyone could point me to that will help me to use some sort of key mapper that will actually work with Neverwinter? At the moment I have joytokey working until I click the Neverwinter window. Hopefully this post isn't against any rules. I just want to play the game with a controller. That's all. Please and thank you in advance to any who can help me.

Personally, I have no idea why they can't add controller support to the PC version of the game. I can't imagine it would be hard, heck just add the XBox and PS4 controller graphics to the game and use one depending on the detected controller on the PC... both XBox and PS controller drives (for various generations) are available for the PC.

The only main problem with using any of the software solutions is they are purely digital. They convert the controller movement into keyboard actions, whereas if you had native controller support built-in you could have analog input for motion instead of digital.

Does anyone know of one that actually works though? The game like blocks it. I have my controller working as a mouse and keyboard etc but as soon as I click on the game window it disables it. Does anyone know from experience a way that works? As of right now I haven't been able to get joytokey or xpadder to work in game even though they work on my desktop.

yes, you can use controller pad to play NW, you just need "X-padder" to install and set up configurations.

Ok ok so oops it does work. I had to click run as administrator to give it cross application privileges lol. Ok I'm good now. Level 70 here I go.

Personally I prefer keyboard and mouse, but I can plugin my wired USB PS3 controller - no driver needed. There is a program called Joy2Key; Joy2Key version 5.0 is $7 Shareware you can buy here.
While version 3.7.9 is still freeware available here.

While this is 3rd party software, I am pretty sure they will cut us some slack on the intended use.

i think that program approved as long it is not exploitable such as combat bots or multi-accounts farm bots.

Nobody seems to remember but during the beta of the game you could use a game pad controller and play. The support was there and I am pretty sure I posted comments about it being taken out and wondered why. I guess they figured PC players would never need it idk.

The interesting thing is Star Trek Online has controller support, which works a lot better for flying starships around than the keyboard does!

Given that NWO is now available on consoles it really seems strange they don't make a controller configuration available for PC players as well... especially since as @throsbi points out, it was actually available at one point!

you are 100% correct. The first rumors of NWO coming to xbox was when someone found the files inside of neverwinter for xbox contoler support. This same question used to pop up every so often. Now with NWO on 3 platforms it makes sense to unlock those files for both ps4 or xbone controllers.
