2.6 sm protector....my survivablity is just the same....my aggro pull seems the same....party protection seems the same....dps is lower due to itf but that is very welcome.....now i don't feel obligated to repeat the same sequence over and over to boost itf....SD nerf i have to use better timing...vm cast being quicker is great and makes up for duration nerf....rip tide of iron, i'll miss you.
Overall, the more things change the more they stay the same.
The ITF nerf is noticeable, but in a high-gear party ITF is still an amazing buff. Just as much for the movement increase as the dmg, since past a certain lvl of DPS you the best way to improve your dungeon time is to improve run speed...
There are also some other options for great party buff powers
As with every rework, I think there is an insane overreaction and uninformed masses abandon builds without trying to adapt. It happened with bubble OPs too, but any experienced player can tell you a prot-OP is still great as long as they know what they're doing.
I was a protector before Mod10 already. Everything they changed benefitted my build.
I am very happy that they added deflection to some skills: 72.5% base deflection chance (Passives: Steel Grace + Desperate Survival) +5% when i block an attack +10% Supremacy of Steel + Bonding Runestones + 10% Ring of Sudden Deflect (don't wear one though)
All in all 100% deflect AND 80% damage resistance is no problem anymore
@looomis why so much deflect chance? You still need a shield to survive meaningful content, no? If shield is up, deflect benefit is quite low IMO.

3.3K IV Tact
DPS is a bit lower because of the ITF nerf, but not too bad after you reallocate some defence into other stats. Kind of offset things by treating my GF to a set of greater bondings (from augment), so yeah same same overall.
GF's still welcome in parties
No increase in content difficulty

SM Conqueror - minor rejig on powers/feats with respec. Survivability, still fine, need to be more careful with KV on, but workable (didn't realise I was subconsciously timing it, and got a couple of nasty smacks before I adjusted). DPS hit barely noticeable solo & learning to time enforced threat/linebreaker assault to boost DPS in group trash clearing with some success. All things considered - a different approach required in some situations, but I don't feel nerfed, irrelevant or a passenger.

Of course stacking defence for more than 80% DR is meaningless since mod10. So I have to stack another defensive stat: Lifesteal, HP, Deflect or Regeneration. Regeneration is meaningless and Lifesteal futile without great offensive power.
So I chose Deflect over HP, because there are a few effects that trigger on a deflection (i.e. Shadow Demon companion, Survivor's Blessing insignia bonus or the new grade 5 boon of the new campaign: Frozen Reflection).
I need to readjust again to not get more than 100% deflect. Maybe I change some Silvery to Radiant Enchantments in my defensive slots.
And of course the deflected amount of damage is quite low when you have your shield up. My build is a purely defensive one. I played a conqueror build for 3 years and was tired of it PVP is nevertheless quite fun and of course CN very easy.

But that much deflect to proc insignia bonuses is pretty futile if you don't have the extra HP room to work with. I mean you'll still get 30% deflect easily without even using silvery enchants on your defensive slots. Don't you think that's enough?

Yes. Tanks are always needed. The ITF and Steel Defense nerfs are a disappointment, but not fatal.
ITF still works, just not "shock and awe" anymore.
. KV still unusable because of it causing lags and the total HP relation between GF and rest of party.)
I respectfully disagree. 1) don't blame lags on a GF using a legit feature WAI. That is often on an individual player's poor system. 2) If you can't handle the HP burden of KV you are using it wrong. Must be coupled with high defense, deflect, reflect and either lifesteal or other personal HP mitigators. See the Turtle and Bowser builds.
I am Took.
"Full plate and packing steel" in NW since 2013.
I dropped DR from 140% to 90% atm and went or conqueror/ tactican. Dailies are a breeze, tanked CN premade and PuG. Playable, but runs take much longer, then before.
