Campaign unlock?

acro33acro33 Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 79 Arc User
So, now we have unlocks for Dread Ring, Sharandar, Icewind Dale and also Underdark.
Why Underdark? It's one of the easiest campaigns to go through!
How's about we get a campaign unlock for Tyranny of Dragons? THAT is a real pain in the a** of a campaign to complete.
Also, isn't 5000 Zen a wee bit too pricey for an unlock? I'd pay that for Tyranny, but not for any of the others. 2500 tops for Icewind Dale and 1800 for Dread Ring and Sharandar is way more fair, especially since it's such a deterrent to max out all your alts once you've gone through them with your main character.

Any thoughts?

And while you're at it, please add Elemental Evil. And how about a mega unlock pack for all campaigns for somewhere between 10k and 15k?

Agreed, have played since beginning and only have 2 toons completed ToD, its a pain.
Only other campaign I would pay for is IWD, since it takes 20 days irl or something to complete it.

$50 base to unlock any campaign is highway robbery... $50 comfortably feeds my whole family (4 people, including two elementary age children) for 3-5 days... assuming I'm the one doing the grocery shopping anyway (hah). $100 a week easily.

$200 dollars for all 4 - that's the price of a round-trip plane ticket across the country (USA) for one person.

Really Cryptic? I mean.... really? Makes me sick to think your business people actually think the prices you are charging are fair. Do people pay them? Sure, probably. Fair? No, not even close. Frankly, and I know this will probably upset lots of people, but I really question whether people who DO pay your gouging prices actually understand the value of the money they're spending or if they're just addicted and fooling themselves into thinking "supporting the game" is really what their doing rather than rewarding behavior that, in other situations, gets prosecuted (think back a few years to the gasoline shortage in the US when local stations jacked their prices up $5 a gallon because they could... what happened to them? They lost their franchise in most cases, they got prosecuted in others. Happened to the station right down the street from my house, I remember it well). No one likes price gouging, and as a community, we shouldn't reward it.

But... we will anyway... I mean... why play the game when you can spend 5x more than what 80% of the world lives in in a day*.. so you don't have to do your dailies for a few days.

Maybe some people have more than enough money for food and all their other "bills" and decide to support their hobby.

Maybe some people are bed ridden or maybe house bound or any number of reasons that some might decide this is a worth while option for them to spend their money.

Perhaps this game is what makes some people happy in life and they decide that they do not mind investing in what makes them happy.

I think the real question you should ask is why you care what other people do with their money.

As to the OP I think it's a good opportunity for them to make money, though I would never buy zen to avoid a grind.

That's all beside the point. Just because someone is choosing to support a hobby or is bed ridden or even are made happy by this game doesn't mean its OK for them to be price-gouged. I care about this because I care about *my* money, and I care about the future of this game and Cryptic as a company - those things are linked. If Cryptic can implement business practices with regards to pricing that make the items they're selling clearly worth the price - rather than simply as absolutely high as the market can possibly bear (and then a touch higher) - it WILL convince me to part with my money because the goods/services provided will be worth the expense. For others, I care because not everyone is in touch with their own finances, which is what games like this prey upon. Simply ignoring injustices, even teeny 1st world ones like this, on the rationale that it's none of my business does nothing but reward bad behavior.

That's the thing, you get the campaign currency just running edemo and CN anyways. You only need about the first three boons too. There's basically no point in paying for underdark unless you don't plan on running any of the content from mod 8 or 9.

    I totally agree with Kvet.

The biggest flaw, as I see it, with the items and services that we players can buy are hardly ever worth the money. If only they'd make items/services that are actually fairly priced and worth that money then they'd make more money than what they're making now. Overpricing things ensures players with a limited budget only occasional spending. But if everything was fairly priced and owrth it then those same players would most likely buy a whole lot more stuff.
    It's simple logic, really.

After all this time in game I still do not care what they charge.
If they wanted to make more people happy and even make more money sure they should adjust costs to be a LOT more equivalent to the product.
Companion upgrade, mount costs RP costs and much much more.
However the costs do not bother me and I for one do not think the game is in any danger of failing any time soon.
I spend cash on more occasions than maybe should but when I do, I do it thinking that what I am getting is worth my money and not you cryptic or anyone else has a say in that.
Rubies are ridiculous, so I don't buy them, same with the OPs listed items don't buy them and won't buy them not at what they are and not if they are cheaper.
I do however like to buy companions.
That's my 2-cents worth, take it or leave it
