I seem to do more dps using a perfect vorpal compared to trans dread (the theory suggests it should be the other way around).
I like most SW's spam TT, I can get random crits for multiple millions from TT but using my Dread I get no such thing because it only works on encounters.
Am I playing my dread wrong? or are others hitting a lot harder with their vorpal too?

On paper SW does 70-85% damage with encounters in PvE so Dread should perform a lot better than Vorpal. From another topic:
Mod 10:
[Combat (Self)] Critical Hit! Your Killing Flames deals 16636893 (1009292) Fire Damage to Ethraniev Marrowslake.
Mod 9:
[Combat (Self)] Your Murderous Flames deals 376274433 (18876929) Fire Damage to Red Tiamat Head.
Plus on a note, with the Owl bear proccing off "non" crit and the constant power boosts of Bonding, you are better off going that route than the "crit build" for the Dread enchant, unless you are trying it for PvP, which I would not recommend, due to how the crit severity resistance work with tenacity (You will need high crit chance and crit severity to overcome this).
I have a lot of crit severity companions also which help out a lot, Sword (5%), Enriyes (10%) and Cambion (10%) on top of the 25% from feats, Dread enchant is 75% crit severity, your looking at 125% crit severity whereas with the Vorpal it's 100% crit severity on top of your base.
