[Solved] Noticeable lag since April 2?

Is it just me or has anyone noticed that the game has became more laggy since April 2, especially in public areas like Protector's Enclave, Caer-Konig, and Mantol-Derith?

== Update ==

It turn out to be a thermal compound issue, not a server or a network issue. For more information, please see my reply below.

I noticed more lag. Dread Ring expands his territory.

Thanks for your feedback. To be more clearer, what I mean is that the game is running like I don't have enough RAM. It's kinda like the lag we are experiencing during dragon runs in Well of Dragons. The interaction delay in Dread Ring is not what I mean.

My definition of DR "look and feel"

Interaction delay is one. Second is rubber banging on graphic, merged shapes, non-textured shapes - entire PE covered with snow or ice, delay between pressing button on encounter and seeing effect, movement delay, returning to previous position, warping NPC, slow mount equip.

I think it is Respen game or network upgrade. Or big enough number of people with certain mount proc types.

I believe that interaction delay and rubberbanding are server issue and connection issue, respectively. My case isn't those two and is simply like hardware issue.

So homeland players have no issue with lag, rubber, disconnects in NW? "I want to believe".

It turned out to be an issue of thermal compound.

The thermal compound on the fans of my CPU and video card had dried out. And it probably became more inefficient after I took off the fans of my CPU and video card to clear dust on them on April 2. So it was the inefficiency in heat dissipation that caused the lag.

I had re-applied thermal compound on them, and the game has restored its smoothness.

Hope this information is helpful to some players.

Thermal compound very rarely needs to be replaced as long as they've been applied correctly. You shouldn't lift up the fan to check on the thermal compound. Once the contact point has been exposed, then you'll need to clean and reapply the thermal paste almost every time, you may get lucky once a while with the component still working without reapplying, but don't risk frying up the most expensive component in your PC.

The only maintenance you need to do is clean the dust out with an air compressor bottle, or a vacuum cleaner which won't be as efficient but better than nothing. Just make sure you don't spin the fan blades, but do make sure they do spin when they're turned on.

As to the server lag, I can pretty much only play certain times of the day. Late arvo, night time here in Australia, I get crazy lag spikes. It gets slightly better when I connect to the EU proxy, but my ping becomes 480-500. Hopefully the network maintenance would have made it better.

@jaotut So far my experience has been terrible with any of the proxies this game provides.

@romotheone yeah I usually try my best to avoid using any of the proxies, coz they're usually worse, but when it takes 5 seconds for my character to respond after I'm logged in, then I just try out all the connections available.

It seems like my connection has been better now after the network maintenance, let's hope it stays that way

@metalldjt The issue you are encountering doesn't seem to be a thermal compound issue. Maybe you want to open a new thread so that you would have more chance to get the issue fixed.
