@mkgnr159 I have moved this to the Technical Support subforum for it. I would also like to inform you that bumping is not allowed on these forums.

More information is needed. What are you doing when you get disconnected? Have you done a trace route to the servers? What speed of internet do you have?

    what is bumping,
for me, i get d/ced after picking a character to log in
the site i use for a internet speed test is, www.speedtest.net, or google it, its the one with ooklaa in its name
how do i do a "trace route"
this is what happens for me
load neverwinter (with/without arc it doesnt seem to make a diffrence)
4mins to ask for my user name and password(force verify is turned off always)
after pressing enter, another 5ish mins to hit the play button
loads up in about 20seconds, get to character screen, click character then enter world,
screen goes black and a short time later i get "login in to game server, timed out please try again later"
i am still able to access the gate way

Bumping: posting solely for the purpose of moving a thread up on a page, usually consisting solely of "bump".

How to do a traceroute in Windows 7 or 8:

Start > Run, type "cmd" in the box provided, and at the window that appears, type the following:

    tracert patchserver.crypticstudios.com

For windows 10 users, hold down the Windows key and press X, then select Command Prompt from the menu provided. The command is still the same.

I have been getting a LOT of server disconnects and server not responding, waiting times of up to 5 mins on the launcher before I can actually sign in. When I do manage to get in, the character select screen takes ages to fully load up. This is trying to play during the day. At night between approx 10pm and 8am the following day, it all seems to be fluid with barely a hint of lag. I know that off peak times and the loads are less but I cannot go playing NW during those times lol. I would like to actually have a decent play during the day.

Below are trace and nettest results taken approx 2030 hrs

On the traceroute hops 5 to 13, they all look like they are bumping round US airports, hop 11 actually states its in DC. rest of the 154.54.x.x gives me a generic google map. Hop 15 is in Boston MA.

Thing is, why the hell is this looking like its being routed up and down the country when the servers for the game are located in CA, 1 state over from AZ.....

The nettest figures seem rather low to say the least lol, so obviously something is way wrong there.

So, with these figures above, the game plays terribly for me, even though the route figures are comparable with good game play. Seems like the nettest figures I have aren't near what I should be getting. Any suggestions.

Oh and I have done iprelease/renew, flushed dns, powercycled all equip here and still the same probs.

You're actually incorrectly assuming the servers are in CA. The company is in CA but the datacenter for Cryptic's games is on the East Coast. This would explain where your trace is going.

As to its results, hop 3 is getting a partial timeout. You may get better long-term results from running a pathping test....which basically runs a traceroute repeatedly for about 5 minutes or so and compiles the results. It'll give you a better picture of where packet loss may be occurring most frequently along your route.

Is your firewall blocking some ports? You also may be experiencing data throttling. Contact your ISP to make sure something hasn't been bottlenecked or throttled on their end.

Pathping is the same as a traceroute, except the command is "pathping" .

Thanks for the clarification of the server locale, that explains the geographical hops.
Firewall is all good. Been using Norton for the last 10yrs. No problems with it, all other games I play don't have an issue with it. least none that raises eyebrows.
No problems with ISP thus far, but will check later on today.
Have conducted a pathping at 4:55am PST. Results below, but ofc as its early morning, delays would be light. Will try and run another one later on today.

It does have a significant amount of loss, yeah, but it doesn't appear to be on your ISP's network or Cryptic's. Rather, it appears to be on the backbone networks that transfer data between the two.

So why exactly is it timing out before it hits atlanta and is it... supposed to be routing to your xbox...patch servers, for PC?

Short answer: That's simply how the URL is resolved via DNS lookup and redirected. I don't write the DNS tables, unfortunately.

Equally short but not quite as technical answer: That's the way it's always been since before the XB1 went live *shrug*

As to why you're timing out on hop 8, it could be many reasons. That particular node may be configured to block incoming ICMP requests, or the node itself may be having issues. At any rate, it's not on Cryptic's end. I'd do as suggested in the previous reply: run a pathping test, see where else you may be experiencing significant packet loss.

Also, the timeout is occurring around St. Louis, MO--not Atlanta.

By the way, this thread off the PWI game forum may be of some help as well. It goes into better detail than I have the time to type out here: http://forum.arcgames.com/pwi/discussion/1194404/traceroute-pinging-the-internet-and-you
