eDemo Quiting Early Temp Ban

erageramboeragerambo Member Posts: 46 Arc User
OK, so this is two sided for sure. I get it. I really get the 30 min ban from queue'd activities when you quit early. I think it's a great tool for PvP and has been for some time, but maybe not so much for PvE, especially in events like eDemo. Hear me out now, but in PvP the match time frame is much shorter than that of an event like eDemo, so waiting it out if things aren't going well isn't as bad. Recently eDemo has become pretty tough with randoms. This is understandable and not an issue as I like a good challenge, but when 5/10 people in your game leave early after the event has started, mind you at that point players cannot join your game in progress, you are forced to either accept the 30min ban for quiting early, or wait until the event is completely done to avoid the temp ban for queueing. Shouldn't there be some sort of fail safe where if a player or players are in the game still once it goes to the next event and the game is less than 60-75% full, the ban should be waved? Just a thought. What do you all think?

i know this is not a popular thought, but the only way to really stop people from quitting out is to make the punishment scale the more often you quit out. (maybe if you do it 3 times in 1 day each time it adds 10 more min) max of 60 min and resets each day.

even if its going to be a silver, or bronze i will stay in. you can still get purple ring drops on bronze even with randoms. you never know what your going to get.

being able to have people join in mid battle to replace those who do take the penalty would be really helpful but im sure some would hate to be put into a run that is failing on demogorgon, so maybe make it so replacements can come in until the final fight, then its giving us a chance to take him down with a full group.

Something else that would be of help with this, is that for Raids that are intended for more than 5 players - there is a way to get your premade 10 into the same queue (like adding something to the stronghold where you can queue from there if there are 10 players in a given area - like it's required for 10 people to be on the platform in Edemo for it to start)

We tried our own 2 groups of 5 and after some minor issues we managed to get us all into the same instance, however we could have completed 1 run if not 2 in the time it took for us to all finally get into the same queue.

Queuing with Randoms is kind of play at your own risk there. If they are not intentionally "griefing" the instance by running the 2nd boss deliberately into a black tile or closing green and blue rifts (when everyone is shouting prior to purples only). This is what causes most people to duck out during the 1st portion of the event.

It's been rare to get a fully random queue and have everyone understand what the principle is to get a gold achievement. You would think that by the time they are queuing for Edemo they would understand the concept, and if not 99% sure they are just there to ruin it for everyone else.

It's tough for sure. Both of you bring up great points. It would certainly be benneficial for the game to allow two groups of five to queue together with ease. It would make joining a guild a bit more important and fun. I think the lack of players atm is simply due to the Division dropping, because the weekend prior to I was able to run golds all day and this weekend was like the invasion of the C-Squaders.

Another note, to Quaza's point somewhat is that there are situations that you know for certain that there is no way in hell that group is making it through the Skirmish, i.e. 10dps-0 support. I've found it weird since day one of demo that dungeon and skirmish queues require a tank & healer when match making, yet that same notion is not called for on a map that almost requires it with the amount of non combat damage everyone takes. One could argue that we didn't have those kinds of match making requirments for Tiamat either, but that was at a time before the match making updates.

Lets be honest, even with survivability in part of tanks and healers, you still have the challenge of completing the Skirmish using the proper mechanics. That in of its own is tough, then you add in bad match making and it becomes infuriating.

No worries though, as I have swept the salt off of the floor and now am 18 demonic ichor away from the 800 for my Twisted Off Hand. I will certainly be taking some time off of the edemo grind now that I will have the full set.

Thanks for letting me rant =)

Wouldn't they just sit around the campfire then? You'll still be short on people either way. The only benefit is that THEY get a chest at the end.

    I vote nay.

the queue thing is going to be part of the maze engine when it drops. I agree though if a good chunk of the player base leaves the ban should be lifted. or they should make it so you can queue in to fill up an already running game that's lost people. second is probably better imo. I don't know why they have such a strict policy on that to begin with.

The policy was put in place, in my opinion...too keep us engaged and force team unity.

Unfortunately, widely known fact...most players are impatient with new kids as you can read in zone chat.

To be fair that impatience is often justified. If we're talking about Demo which you can only play every hour it gets very frustrating when someone comes along either through ignorance or just to be a troll and screws up the game.

This & the new Skirmishes are pretty clear about your goals but how many times have you seen people screw up even the most basic of game instructions?

As for penalties, currently players can jump to other characters or take a 30mins break, but if you extend that players are just going to sit around the fireplace waiting the game out.

To be clear...I'm not for banning anyone that feels it's a waste of time to stick around and leaves nor feel it is justified to ban an account for server related malfunctions. I am simply voicing an opinion as to why they may have implemented a ban if you leave policy.

The problem with edemo is that you loose health all the time if not cleric for no reason, your health just decrease at a defined rate. So you NEED a cleric. When i realize there is none and i will just keep denying, honestly i don't stay. I know that even a bronze run will net you some items and all, but i don't feel like loosing 20 mins on this if i get no twisted ichor. Thats the reason why i run edemo... plain and simple. And the keys are limited so i won't waste one key on a chest if no ichor in it. Sure i can have a look and if nothing of value just let it there and don't loose the key but then i get almost no items so it feel like a huge waste of time.

Even when i group with 4 friends, sometimes we get trolls that screw the run. I can't logically believe that by the time you go edemo you don't know how to properly play the run, i mean not only they tell you but on top of that you have already run normal demo more than likely so you should know what to do...
