What is the significance of the default price? Is it some sort of average? Is it based on the last sale?

Suggested price is an average buyout price they put on it. So if there is an enchantment that you want to sell. You look up that enchantment in th and see there is 5 of said enchantment. Highest buyout is 400k and lowest buyout is 385k. It'll put yours up if your using the default/ suggested price at around 389k ish. I think it totals the average and places you towards the lowest or at the lowest sellout price.

also when searching change the top right tab (can do this by hitting select after a search) to buyout and it will show you the cheapest overall buyout for the results.

For the most part it will not give you a decent average as the items fluctuate in price constantly.
You are in constant risk of undercutting yourself and loosing out in AD.
Take the extra 10 seconds and get your proper estimate through the Auction House before posting anything up.
