DPS potential of protection paladin in PvE

I'm wondering about the damage potential of protection paladin in PvE.

Force of will feat - additional 1% crit per charm, this makes charm much worth getting. Although paladin doesn't have a % damage stat, charm gives AP gain and combat advantage which is almost as good as damage. If build max charm, roll 16 + 2 from race + 2 from fires + 7 from level + 4 from belt = 31 charm. That's 21% AP gain, 21% crit and 21% combat advantage damage (stamina and companion bonus as well).

When feat-ed and build this way, plus Justice tree, build 20k power, 80% crit (yes it's possible, only on OP)+ 60% pen, vorpal, use Templer + Smite + circle/vow/scared, Aura of wis+courage and Judgement daily. How is the DPS of paladin compared to, say, damage build GWF?

If paladin can do half to 2/3 of the damage of GWF then i would say it's great DPS potential.

if burning light was faster would be a great option if you wanted to contribute so much to dps. a full charged burning light+ ciricle of power-aura of courage should hit very hard. + i like your thoughts trying to deal damage than the ambusive behavior with binding oath.

You can in fact get the dps of the pali very high in PvE. Can not really say exactly how it would compare to a geared GWF but I come often in top dps in most dungeon and skirmishes by a far margin (Not all the time though). I am a strong advocate for as high HP as possible. I went Con belt and High Con stat rolls. Since you get alot of power converted from 10% of your HP I went that route. It also makes your aura of courage hit that much harder. Running an owlbear pet even with a high crit chance is also worth it. It increase my damage by around 18-20% even with a 51% crit chance from using burning light alone. Regardless the damage is there even without bind oath.

Either you haven't figured out pally bubbles give fake damage or you run with very bad and/or low geared dps or some combination of both. Prot pally damage is unimpressive, as it should be for a tank class. By fake damage I mean any damage your bubble passes onto you is counted as damage you've done.

can you make runs with templar wrath-aura wisdom-aura courage-circle of power- burning light and use divine judgment as daily and tell me how much damage you dealt. For single target boss go bane-circle-renteless avenger. circle of power extra mitigation for you will help you a lot to survive and deal +20% damage. USing tab to taunt and press radiant strike to get on monsters will keep alive your members since they will not get hit dont forget you have 500% threat generation. i wish to have a higher paladin ( mine is 2k no enchants) but i think with those encounters -auras can deal good damage.

MY paladin atm is devotion(that means i dont have the power boost) 2k seeing numbers like 100k critical per judgment when i am alone then i can say with right setup and top build can rock.

I am a Op Tankadin Justice Path, and I am just shy of 3.6k IL. I am able to get some pretty nice DPS and also still provide reasonable bubble protection etc... I typically use burning light , templars wrath , and circle of power , Divine Judgement , Divine Protector for my 5 skills. Aura of Courage and Aura of Wisdom almost never leave my bar either. Radiant strike and also Oath strike (for the 5% armpen boost. Firs thing I always do is Judge (tab) then drop circle of power, then Oath Strike , then hit with my Divine Judgement. I have been able to crit a little bit over 600k with other buffs other than my own and Bonding procs from my blink dog. Granted I am nowhere near BiS but do have rank 11 bonds on my pet, and I have seen my power get up to 71k just from bonding procs. I idle at about 21k or so . My In game is Tularia Darkstorm and I am part of The Holy Crusaders.

How do you fare in terms of survivability in full dps gear? my main concern about going full dps is that i would no longer fulfill my role properly.
Do you do fine even with pugs healers?

99.9% of the time I never die. Only time I die is if I am trying to text or not paying attention, and then I deserve it :) Sincerely, I extremely rarely die. I am not even BiS yet either, I do have dragonflight set though, burning set, Only mace is legendary though, shield will be this coming weekend I hope. I also do not have an enchants lower than Rank 8. A bit of a mix mash tbh, Rank 12's through 8's, I put Reinforcement kits for Recovery and Action Point gain on my gear and neck/rings. My other plan is to put a SIlvery on my remaining slot on my shield once I make it legendary. All in all it will cap me out at approx 6.4k Recovery.

Between Sigil of Devoted, and BL, TW, I manage to gain enough AP to fulfill my role as tank as well. By no means am I perma bubble though. It is not a simple thing , and there is a lot to juggle, and like I said, timing is critical.

I typically have approx 165K HP, and defense a little above 15k. DR is just a hair over 60% natively but when my bondings proc, then my stats go up just a teency bit (Legendary Blink Dog with Rank 12 Bondings) Transcendent Negation helps me as well :)
