Old dungeons

stpensivestpensive Member Posts: 286 Arc User
Can someone break down why there is such an infatuation with bringing back old dungeons?

Doing anything 7000 times is generally considered boring but not so with NW it seems. Why is the cry for them old girlfriends and not for some new strange?

Thanks; I'll hang up and listen...

Content should be added, not removed. We also want new dungeons, but it's much easier for them to add back the ones that are already made.

I've only been playing since October so these would be considered "new to me".

For some it is nostalgia, for most though it is a masked cry for the BoE gear and loot the dungeons contained.

It is the nostalgia factor. Remember the decision on whether or not to run through Pirate King? Or who was going to machine gun lockup first?

    Good times!

im with dkrue84. they would be new to me.

i had a conversation last night with a friend who just got back into this who played earlier dungeons and was surprised at how lazy people are with the haste clerk/ paladin combo. apparently there used to be tactics, player positions for groups and you would get yelled at for not being in the right place in a boss fight. many people wrote guides on it for each fight too.

i was wondering why he was asking about tactics for boss fights before that. now i understand. (he said alot about how random gear drops drove the economy before too, but that's another story) it will be interesting to see if these tactics re emerge in boss fights.

Personally i could barely do them once and there is one i didn't even had time to do(lair of the mad dragon) as i was lev up. Also the one with the big brain as final boss, i was unable to beat it with my friend and randoms, i wanted to get better equiped and have a go at it again... and boom it was removed.

More dungeons mean more variety. Sure it may make random queues longer... but for us that play as guild and use pre-made group, it would be good to have more variety. I think most people that want them back like me are people who barely could play them back in the days. So it would mean new for us.

Not to mention out of the 3 T2 dungeons, one is almost unplayable (grey wolf) as nobody want to do it cause of the boss healing himself. ECC take too long it seem, people rarely run it, so we end up farming spiders, wich is somewhat repetitive after a while...

@destrowod I agree with all your points. Only having 3 T2 dungeons is just ridiculous. They've added 2 skirmishes and 1 "raid" if you could call it that, now. Add in a boring Shores and Elol that everyone has been playing forever now makes for boring end game. Tiamat is fun. Problem is the tier system. No one donated towards it because we need to donate all campaign mats towards our SH coffers making Tiamat obsolete now. Take the tiers away and let us enjoy running Tiamat again with good rewards.

So bringing back old dungeons would give us more variety. We haven't played them in forever so they would be some what fresh. Add in better chances of getting a decent drop in these dungeons and make specific drops for different dungeons. This would give people reasons to run them even if they are longer/harder to beat. Also for Great Wolfs den, it's not hard at all anymore.

When building a flight of stairs (player base) you do not remove the bottom 10 steps and expect people heading to the second floor to be happy. Taking over a year to rebuild these steps is unacceptable people should and are mad on both platforms. To only reintroduce 4 steps still left with a gap is just silly and a bad motto. Put dungeons back to how they were with an adjusted level scale. Who in their right mind will run remade 3 man dungeons when they are a year past their end game for no such reward.

Your logic is flawed (people can still progress in a clear linear fashion without issue). What I think I hear you saying is that you miss them; that's fine. I just don't. I would much rather welcome new content than retreaded old tires.

Hahaha yes. The race to load back into Pirate King after getting kicked back to the main screen so you could get the loot roll. And that feeling when a Greater mark dropped and you knew you were getting kicked.

    Happy Days.

Im glad i never knew the kicking thing, cause i would had probably quit this game lol.

And stpensive, they do actually fit into the story. Yes i know lots of people don't care about story, but as Angry Joe, I DO !!

And to bring them back as leveling dungeons with 3 mans only... well sure the low levels will have more stuff to do wich is better for them, but for us that don't need leveling anymore, we will hardly ever play them. Maybe a bit at first to see them again but thats it... The 5K i get from a dungeon run along 2-3 blue items (unsalvageable) and couple seal of the pegasus(basically just gold) is not enough interesting for me to even run them on days where i don't have anybody to run an epic...

Ill make more diamonds out of random ring drop from DHE... and its quicker...

The old dungeons would bring some depth I feel. Since ive been playing only a few dungeons have been available. Also tenacity in domination 60 to 69 seems far less effective than stacking max hp AP and Powerfor the CW class. I have lots of glory saved, am level 65 and have nothing of use to spend it on. Also, Gauntlgrim is fun to play, but why does grim coin armor look under powered. I truly enjoy this game and only desire more to do, and a perfect vorpal, lol

Urgh, the kicking used to be awful and some Guild's specialised in it. It truly was a sucky time for the game. I wished they had kept in the Need/Greed/Pass and just sorted the kicking out properly.

Edit... I mean I wished they had not made drops just 1 person only, I`d rather see the item drop and roll for it like we used to, but without being able to be kicked etc.

@stpensive how is my logic a flaw. They took the dungeons out of " Dungeons and Dragons" they no way shape or form help players progress other than making diamonds. If you add back in pointless reworked dungeons with tiny salvage rewards what is the real advantage of returning a few of our dungeons if there is nothing to play for. I will not be running 3 man dungeons even if they are reworked. Castle Never remake had better have a reason to play than to waste time. Of course we miss dungeons, why remove the foundation point of playing this game, oh because HAMSTER be broken again....and again and again. Do we even play the same game bruh? If so pass around what your on

yeah its a double edge sword. I mean i miss having many different armors and stuff, nowadays people all look the same... but i prefer having my drops then the badly designed "random" choice. Problem with that system is sometimes you can be in a 3 man dungeon and still do not receive a single rank 5 enchant on 6 drop, when you should have 2 if it was fair. Where is the logic? Of course rank 5 now i don't care much but imagine a similar drop system for high item, it would be bad.

'how is my logic a flaw.'
You purported that players were missing 'steps' as a result of the content removal (6 if my math is correct). I get what you were trying to convey but the message that, 'people cant progress with missing steps' is 'flawed'. What is missing, however, are story gaps; that I will concede.
'They took the dungeons out of " Dungeons and Dragons"'
And added considerably more content than they removed (new zones).
'Do we even play the same game bruh? '
I think so; you just have noticeable wood for old content. I, on the other hand, could not care less about it (new lipstick \ scaling included) and would much rather challenge the devs to challenge us with new, refreshing content. I guess I am progressive like that.
  • destrowoddestrowod Member Posts: 484 Arc User
But as it been said those dungeons are so old that lots of the current player didn't even had time to enjoy them....

And yes the fact that the zones quest are more or less without a proper ending now that much dungeons are gone is weird. If they fear on having too much dungeons and having there player base spread too much, they can always just have a rotation, kinda like a dungeons of the week thing. And its not like at the moment lots of player do the grey wolf den anyway... :/
  • stpensivestpensive Member Posts: 286 Arc User
I could get on board with a rotating 'Dungeon of the Week'; a sound idea. Just as long as drops were in line with progression with the current campaign(s). Yeah, I like it.
