Dispelling some myths about the "Elusive Lightfoot Thief".

Well, I finally hit the jackpot (sort of) after playing for almost 2 years. I always try to get in an SCA while taking my morning constitutional and the other day I ran into a very rare fellow indeed... I would have posted screenshots here if I could have figured out to post one from my PC and not the internet, but oh well. Suffice it to say that not only did I find a ring of the loyal avenger, but hiding behind the Elder Brain was none other than the "Elusive Lightfoot Thief"! So here's the facts:
1) He was NOT in the "Library" with the "Candlestick" and "Col. Mustard"
2) I did NOT roll a natural 20 on my daily dice roll.
3) I was NOT in the Black Dragon lair.
4) It was NOT a flawless run through (I think I lost 1 bar/fight during the run).
5) I WAS in the "Land of Dreams"
6) I found him after the last fight with the Elder Brain (Maybe he was enthralled after trying to rob the Brain's treasure stash...)
The other thing I thought was unusual was that the last person I remember posting about getting the Lightfoot Thief also got a ring of the loyal avenger on the run. Maybe it's related, maybe not, but the truth is out there and if this info helps anyone find it good luck to you!

    congratulations :) glad to see he is still dropping personally gave up on him.
    Please fix Zhentarim Warlock companion's skill "Arcane Warping" to the originally intended "Arcane Boost"

    Pure -> Transcendent Plague Fire weapon enchantment giving 80damge/20 seconds for 500k+ AD is a joke.

    Just got one last week as well, having played numerous SCA while at work on quiet days (emergency services, what can I say? when we're busy, we're busy; when we're quiet, we play on our phones). I *want* to say it was the Elder Brain that dropped mine too, but that's probably pure coincidence and I don't want people to chalk it up to anything other than that.

    Suffice to say, the odds are craptastic, but still somehow better than lockboxes IMO :smile:
    And in a worst case situation, you still have a chance at loyal gear for your companions, some of which sell very well.

    congratulations! phantastic run!
    and i have a question... did you ever get any loyal companion equipment in fields that where not treasure troves or final bosses? especially the ring of the loyal avenger?

    Lightfoot Thief is the second-best companion to use with Bonding Runestones (Drow Mercenary being No.1). Not sure about his damage output, though. I ran with Shadow Demon (upgraded to epic) using 3 Greater Bondings and he hits the living HAMSTER out of stuff as well as proccing Bonding stacks fast.

    Oh and gratz to the OP for getting Lightfoot Thief finally \o/

    Did you have to clear everything on the map before beating the boss?

    I did get 2 thiefs so far and NEVER cleared a full map or even all maps. If anyone said, that it would be needed, he is wrong.
    Chars: CW, DC, GF, GWF, HR and TR.

    To answer some questions, AFAIK I have never gotten any epic companion gear from anything other than a treasure chest. I also did not clear every encounter in the dungeon if that's what you meant (I never do, only clear what is nec. and the easiest path to the end while getting every chest on the way).

    i finally got dungeon of "Dreams", but no lightfoot thief, clear all the chest rooms, and brain boss, nothing, same as black dragon epic dungeon when i was told some got the thief.
    tired of getting another "miss".

    I've had some Loyal gear drop from the random treasure chests in the dungeons, but the drop rate seems really low. Maybe 2 pieces in close to 100 runs. In general, I wouldn't say it's worth it. The drop rate seems much higher as end-boss rewards.

    And yes, I've never done a full clear either. My companions are only blue x 3 and one purple, so I don't even succeed on every clear, and certainly can't afford to fight every single battle.

    It is a very low chance to get a Thief from the end Boss fight, ~1%. So until you've done >100 Tier 6 boss fights, don't expect a Lightfoot Thief. No need to clear every fight; only the boss fight will drop a Thief.

    And companion gear can drop from any chest or from the end boss fight. Early in Mod 6 the gear could drop from any fight, then they scaled it back to only the chests or end boss.

    thank you for your answers! that's what i expected (full clear is not necessary)
    darkstarcrash's information explains why a guildie told me he had found loyal gear in fights outside chests or end boss, but in fact he had not played in a long time.
    i tried to clean everything after hearing that, and it was extremely boring!
    so, i'm happy, there's no need to! :)

    yes, very boring, took me 45 mins-1 hour to find boss room. not worth time investing.

    I ran it today because of this thread and was rewarded with a Seal of the Unicorn! for beating the boss.

    @lirithiel, nope, LfT is better than DM... They have exactly the same powers and stats but LfT has a better bonus imo.

    Not according to extensive tests done by people I trust. For reasons unknown the Drow Mercenary procs Bondings better than Lightfoot Thief, whose active bonus is reported to be not functioning at all.

    Who cares. My gwf runs with a blink dog, my hr with demon, tr - quickling. Anything over 3 stacks of gift is lame broken HAMSTER anyway. Not like the game needs that kind of dmg =) As for thief.. Never saw one but i did only around 50 sca runs. Way too boring sadly and with new adorable gear loyal avenger prices are kinda low.

    P.S. Thief is better than DM cause y dont have to pay real money for it :P

    No, Thief is better than DM because you can sell him on the AH for lots of AD :) For the record, my DM was also a freebie courtesy of having my name pulled out of the hat in a forum competition :) So no real money paid out there for an account wide companion....who spends all of his time in an idle slot as his active bonus is useless and I much prefer my Sylph (on my CW) and Zentarim Warlock (on my HR) as summoned companions as they are both much more entertaining and fun to have around B)
