Easily the most informative thread I've seen on the class in a long time. Craptic doesn't tell us how things work, so we have to rely on people to laboriously test everything and figure it out.
I would add to that thread that although power + armor penetration is *currently* better to stack in pvp against higher geared players, that may change with the dread enchant in mod 9 (a lesser dread gives encounters an extra 20% crit severity and subtracts 10% of your opponent's defense). Also, rumor has it that a ring is on the way in a few months which will negate all stacks of anything, so if you're building for that far ahead, suddenly huge armor penetration to counter negation enchantments may not be necessary.
The class can be fun in pvp, but pvp is a broken, atrocious mess right now in which half the classes are essentially control immune, and HRs have no real answer for them. So, you sometimes have to play like a mid-geared rogue used to, running away from the fights you can't win and using your time to cap points as often as possible.
About 100-110 arpen is enough, as the meta is swinging slowly away from negation.
However right now, starting a fresh lvl 70 HR in pvp is pure masochism.
No idea what my toon is now.

I will add that yesterday I dueled another HR a few times who had stacked power and armor penetration with very little crit. I play a wood elf with, if I recall correctly, in pvp about 14k power, 13k armor penetration (I got lucky and won an axe beak from a lockbox and have the guild boon for, currently, around 3k armor pen), 12k crit and wear a trans feytouched and trans elven battle. He played a halfling, wore a trans negation and trans vorpal, had over 19k power, around 16k armor penetration and under 4k crit and I beat him easily. So there's still something to say for the crit build in pvp.

That would depend on the battle itself. Cause the HR who wears elven always has an advantage over the HR with neg. Build doesnt matter, cause you can lock him up pretty good if he wears neg. I also do not understand why a HR with low crit, would run with vorpal in pvp. But last time I checked, you had drains + ambush ring. I dont know if you used that in the 1vs1, or if you are still using it. Cause if you did, then it isnt really a fair 1v1 compared to the other HR.

lol there's no skill to playing hr vs hr in pvp when one hr is using elven and the other isn't. It's not a fair fight or a fight at all really. It's nothing to do with build or skill, just your gear vs his gear.
Considering you have around 13k arp you should be pretty much mitigating his negation anyway, so I don't see how you think crit plays a factor in that. And running feytouched and crit is completely counter productive unless you're going for a full CC/defensive build in pvp, which is easily achieved anyway and you'll do even crappier DPS than a HR stacking power/arp instead of crit.
All in all I don't see a point in your post besides bragging.

Have fun policing the forums for bragging. I recommend the GWF and TR class forums for material.

I salvaged the ring. It made next to no difference in a fight and once the pvp guilds finally stopped wearing them I didn't see the point. As for drains, they make much less difference to HRs than to other classes, so probably made no real difference. And yes, wearing a vorpal with low crit is just dumb. I imagine the character was an alt borrowing the main's spare enchantments. I'll happily stop wearing them forever if they decide to get rid of one-shot dailies every 15 seconds. Until then, they're just a defense against something broken that shouldn't be in the game in the first place.

Nice when you attack me instead of acknowledging the point.

Actually what I was doing was avoiding attacking you, since I couldn't see what point you were trying to make other than show off how much you know about the game, which I happily acknowledge.
I was trying to tell you that using examples such as the one you did is pointless because it was an unfair situation and hence has no merits or backing to it, besides bragging if it is that. If you want to use a situation to back up one of your points I would suggest using one that is not heavily weighted in x direction, because that ends up nullifying the argument.

No, what I did was provide enough information for the reader to determine that the situation was weighted in my favor and (depending on the reader) why. This being the internet, it lead to more than one person assuming I didn't know what I was actually saying with that information and seizing the opportunity to raise their own flags.
To the original poster, I'd say that your guild and mount boons make a huge difference in pvp. It's unfair (what isn't in pvp?), but if you're lucky enough to benefit from them you may find that you go from frustration to a much more level playing field in a hurry.
