Prones and deflect

@terramak is there a "flag" that can be enabled in order to allow to deflect hits when proned? or are prones so differently coded that is impossible to change their implications?

Prones are meant to avoid exactly that: the chance to "deflect" or avoid in any "regular" way an upcoming attack.
my question was more like: can we make prones just an animation of me laying on the floor and in no way different from a stun?

what do you guys mean? Deflect is still possible while beeing proned.

wrong, they were removed from gwfs because prones effectively negate deflection.
They never bothered to fix it so now take down is a stun.
what i m asking is to either fix it with some internal flags or just leave the animation of me being stunned on the floor.
Monsters do not deflect so this would bring 0 impact to pve.

...... you can still deflect while proned. only the cc reduction from deflect does not work while proned.

so whats the point of being proned vs stunned if you enable deflect for both, just remove prone all together and just keep stuns, yeah great idea.

IMO you should be ultra vulnerable with a -1000% to deflect while proned. You are knocked down face downward...

This is, and should stay the most vulnerable position in game.

yes, it would be nice if they balanced things out. probably not going to happen though :(

im sure you cant deflect while proned.

    @primaxal1

"The other major changes for Great Weapon Fighters are PVP focused changes in an attempt to reduce the number of easily accessible prones there are in PVP. Prones have an interaction with Deflect that many players may not be aware of, in that while you are prone you cannot deflect any incoming attacks."

right now gf shares the same problems.

@martianmnhunter yes im probably asking to remove prones all togheter and make them stuns. BTW the animation of the enemy laying down on the floor is nice and adds realism.

Ya, the thing is, Takedown and FLS were never as powerful as Bull Charge is now.

please avoid to turn the thread in that direction.
they were nerfed for a good reason and that reason still stands for all classes with prones on encounters.

Just to be clear, you can deflect a prone, but not deflect while proned.

If you want to remove all prones from the game, it will change the game drastically, the great thing about prones is that the opponent can't cast his abilities, but while stunned they can (TR ITC comes to mind, GWF unstoppable, oghma's artifact), people will rarely if ever die, even when ganked, since some classes can literally godmode if they are never proned.

when the prone effect, lets say bullcharge, is short, and the GF is far you have time to stand up and run in the opposite direction to avoid incoming attacts just by running away, but when the GF has the daily up:

    1) prone by bull+prone by daily or
    2) prone by daily + prone by bull.

sounds familiar to TAKEDOWN+FLS old times..??? when you were prone like forever??? thats happening right now.

maybe the GF should be silenced a little short time after a prone is casted, same as HR boar charge, so there's a chance to survive the combo.

those prones wouldnt be so problematic if the damage was low, so adjust the damage or rework the ability to chain prones in a row, or even better, do both ;).

just to be clear, the prone should stay in daily powers.

Hmm ppl deflect me AoD all the time after BC, maybe its just a latency problem since ping is pretty high from EU, and its just looks like the target is still proned but maybe its just lag and they are actually back on their feet :S

you really think im lying here? lol. You can deflect attacks while proned, but you can't cc break it with itc or oghma's.

Deflect and defense are not taken into account when being prone.
Now that being said 2 points
1:the effect duration is slightly lower than the prone animation so in some cases , and while you might see the other prone the effect might be over already. For instance the prone duration might be lessened by control resist , while the animation has the same duration in every case
2:differences in ping also taking into account the above , make the prone thingy all the more problematic

That "top" (notice quotes) playes like Prim or Bombataa have stated things like these means that true top players left the game long time ago... DEVs, you should take notes, pls.

mate, take notes:: read ToS , you cannot name names in here, and especially if it is to insult ones individuality

Deflect has always worked even during prones, quoting devs that don't even play their own game isn't an actual argument that supports any claim really.

With that being said, people that have played long enough remember the days when prone powers would actually you know PRONE you and last way longer than they do now because they were not affected by CC resist. While it is possible that the prone status removes your deflect chanse(i've never seen it happen with 100% certainty),it only does so during the frames when your character is lying flat on the ground - the moment you start the animation to get back on your feet your deflect is again active which leads to people deflecting hits right after being smacked with a prone power and still unable to cast because of the animation lock for standing up.

Prones negating deflect is basically a myth. The chanses of you managing to prone a player for long enough to hit him while his character hasn't started geting off the floor is abysmal so even if deflect is in fact switched off during the prone status ping and all around skill activation times will make sure it's barely if ever relevant.

and please dont come up with exuses. You can deflect while proned.
  • rayrdanrayrdan Member Posts: 5,410 Arc User
    You cannot.
    Those wannabe devs

The more tenacity the shorter the prone effect.
A player without any tenacity is flying 10 mts high and the moment he impacts he is near dead since the DOTS tick much faster on proned enemies. That could be the effect of -no deflection-
A player with 3k+ tenacity is more like "bunny-hopping" being proned.
