How do I find an "Enchanted Key" to open my first life lock box?

I just began the game and I found a "life lock box" in my inventory and would like to open it. Where do I obtain the key?

Money, they're only available from the Zen store, (Ok I overstated it you can get zen by trading Astral diamonds to other players via the Zen to Astral diamond EXchange ZAX)

Don't feel like just because you looted a lockbox that you have to open it. You will end up picking up far more boxes then you can ever want to, or be able to, open. And there is nothing in the boxes that qualifies as "must have" items. If, on the off chance, you find a specific reward from one of the various boxes is something you really want. You are often, much better off just buying the item from the auction house then to try to gamble away for it with keys.

Think of the lockboxes as exactly what they are, a gamble. You can get lucky and profit greatly. But more often then not, the house will win more. You can safely ditch lockboxes without worry or concern. They are easy enough to get if, or when, you feel the need to gamble on one.

I would not discard any lockbox especially this one. These lockbox are stackable to 999. The old lockbox are sellable item. Once they are gone, they are usually gone. A good lockbox sells well. A not so old Crushing wave is being sold around 230 AD per in AH at the moment.

You need to buy it from Zen market. Since you are new, that means you need to pay real life money to buy one.

If you do decide to go the way of buying keys for the lockboxes, consider going VIP. The cost per key going VIP is far better than buying keys outright in the Zen store.

Do you have any additional questions David? Since you are new here?

I recommend spending 1000 Zen (850 if you get a 15% off anything coupon) on VIP membership. Assuming you play every day, you can open one lockbox every day, and just by selling the contents on the AH, you should be able to recover enough in a month to pay for the next month - with a little bit left over. Sure, you may be really lucky and get a legendary mount that sells for 10M or whatever, but generally just assume you will get back 20K per day on the average.
    Hoping for improvements...

leg mounts was 1/6000 chance (tested on preview) and i doubt it changed for the bette since i last checked (for the worse it is possible).

Which is why you should not open the lockboxes for the purpose of getting a legendary item. Consider the lockboxes with your daily VIP key to be a "free" lottery ticket. On the average the drops over a month will pay for the next month of VIP, and perhaps with a little bit left over.

I have a list of what I have gotten the last month. Best two items were a Brilliant Diamond and a purple Bloodcrystal Raven Skull but most days I just got stuff I could sell on the AH for maybe 20K or stuff that I actually used myself. I figure my net profit for the month is close to 200.000AD.

He got his answer, I have a fishy feeling he will never post here again.. or will only during certain events... he might after this post, which I would be interested which group he falls in.

    1. Lockboxes are one of the most straightforward things in this game. All he had to do was click on the thing and its self explanatory. They are one of the most straightforward mechanics for a very obvious reason.

There are explanations for what situation this player may be in, but only 1 is actually a situation where you are kind of like oh that makes sense (#2). The rest are kind of different issues with. And Ill explain so it doesnt seem like Im singling you out OP, if you ever do respond after your 2nd post.

    1. He's very young, maybe his first MMORPG (but definitely first experience with lockboxes). This is a real moral gray issue for me, I dont think someone that young should be so regularly exposed to this mechanic. It can lead to self destructive habits later in life. As an adult im fine with it, but kids no.
    2. He is a non native english speaker, and just cant/wont translate it from the ingame. Fine
    3. He's an idiot, or possible really lazy and again has no experience with F2P MMORPGS/CS GO/anything with a lockbox. (but again a avg adult should be able to figure this out, marketing teams walk you right to it)
    4. This is a setup.

And with attitudes like yours, he'd be better off not posting again.
