Other games have this function, if not at least a +/- on votes for forum posters , so we can see reaction to certain information and gauge accordingly. Bear in mind, I write this as one, who am certain, some of mine would be quickly swept away .
up /down vote on posts. 37 votes
Naw.. leave as is.. its funny.

I would like both options of +/- vote on forum users and a up/down vote to remove posts more quickly.
No opinion. I'm struggling to care. Might be talking out of my **** here but I suspect these things descend into a popularity contest where regular posters/gurus get up-voted most often. Becomes a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy. In academia well-cited journals get cited more often because they're well-cited in the past (e.g. Nature/Science) regardless of the quality or real impact of their science - same kind of thing. Love being told I'm wrong btw.

This isn't Reddit. I'm not sure that Vanilla even has the functionality to do that upvote and downvote thing. I'll ask Alex, but I don't see this happening.
My opinions are my own. I think it could be done, all you need to do is implement something similar to the poll system used above, but for user posts or for the user themself. A "poll" that had 2 options, +/- that counted for them on each thread etc.

Haven't voted, cause i don't find it funny, but sadly a simple No was not an option to vote.
The mate is right, those of us, who had their fair share of suffering enough under bad professors at a university know this kind of problem all to well. Impact Points or any other garbage, or Facebook style Likes are nonsense and only made for the "New Age" people. Yeah back i was always laughing (ironically) or was mad to the bone at Uni, cause if an senile prof said blah blah in an article, he got instantly 1000 Impact Points, cause all feared his wrath and those, who dared to vote negatively (in this case didn't give him Points) got their reprisal afterwards, which by today's standards ruined science to the core. Same applies, if you just take a look at YouTube, where a PR made voiceless teen can get 150 mill votes, where as a genius, like Beethoven has a mere of few thousand listeners.
No No, this voting could be and would be abused instantly and on the other hand, life is harsh enough, this should be a game, let's not stress ourselves with another form of point system, it already makes enough tensions in RL, no need to get that in here.

The human race is a herd. Here we are, unique, eternal aspects of consciousness with an infinity of potential, and we have allowed ourselves to become an unthinking, unquestioning blob of conformity and uniformity. A herd. Once we concede to the herd mentality, we can be controlled and directed by a tiny few. And we are.

There are some very well thought out, insightful and intelligent posters/authors here that i have gained a lot of insight into how to enjoy and enhance my toon from, and if one were able to add rep points for posts/ and the poster (similar to a simple + or thumbs up-- check out the Elite Dangerous forum - a space flying game) ) wherein once they have gained, say 100 reps/+s /thumbs up, etc, this adds to their REP and or grade as a forum poster. Lets focus on whats desired.
This would maintain focus on those that have and continue to offer valuable info for those of us here that come to the forums for that rather than the drama. Let less than desired posts wither away rather than add more juice to them via down, up, upside down, or whatever response mechanisms.
Some well meaning posters make statements that after gaining insight to things come to far greater clarity and thus having those posts they made which no longer represents where and who they are now be assailed by the mob would add nothing but a distorted action.
I don't like the idea of a popularity contest on any forum, so no thanks.

While i stated "I would like both options of +/- vote on forum users and a up/down vote to remove posts more quickly." I do not want posts removed I'd just like a thumbs up/thumbs down function for people and posts. Just because a statement is not popular doesn't mean it should be removed, the mods do that anyhow

The spread of the curve usually dictates correct results, not everyone knows everyone in the game.. there is no reason for me to vote up and/or down 98% of all the posts.
If something was correct, I simply would + it.
If something was wrong and I would simply - it.
Ive seen this in other games and it actually worked most of the time. Where incorrect information was quickly voted down and correct information was typically voted up.
This idea of popularity contents, I do not understand.. I dont care where the source of good information comes from, if something is right, its right.
Frankly this was in games from 15 years ago! This is pretty old tech and idea honestly .
i would say no, the way i see it, it could leads to abuses. often when i post in forums, many people are having hard time understanding me, due to my "deafness", and my native is english, deafs in my community doesnt have perfect writing skill, they use ASL format. i am trying hard to have clearer posts that many can grasp what i was saying.
again, no, and i dont like abusings and forum bullies.
Not a good idea. Most discussions here are either highly opinionated or based on different lvl of gear/ knowledge.
All the fanboys would vote the doomssayer down and vice versa.
Everyone who would dare to say, that a 'problem' is not a problem, but a ltp issue would get voted down, even if he would be right.
How would the voting count in all of this posts, that result in 'undergeared PuGs with ltp issues' vs 'egoistic elitist PTW noobs'. Thats not my opinion of the posters, but the endlevel of argument, most of the time, when seasoned high IL players argue with casual/ newer players.

While it's refreshing that you think like this, and believe that it would work, I've been moderating on Reddit long enough to know that it doesn't. People downvote stuff on Reddit all the time if they don't like the person and don't like what they are saying, even if it is correct. I have a feeling that us moderators would be constantly downvoted into oblivion, simply for the fact that we are moderators and people don't like being moderated.
I also believe this would be horribly abused, as a few people would just have their friends get together and bully younger players who may not even realize that they are incorrect about something. So personally, I am flat out against this. If you want a forum of upvotes and downvotes, go sign up for Reddit and use that. www.reddit.com/r/Neverwinter.
