Opening mail crashes game

Subject: Opening mail through HUD or mailbox crashes game
Steps to Reproduce: Try to open mail. Look forward to 2 minutes of loading screens.
Bug: My HUD says I have new mail. Every time I try to open it to see the game crashes, both when going through the interface and when trying at a mailbox.
Notes: When opening the mailbox it just freezes and crashes. Trying to go through the interface causes a surge in ambient noise before crashing.
If anyone knows a fix or a work around please let me know, am enjoying getting back into this game, but if I can't access the mail, that's a big negative.
