5 Hour Maintenance??????

What is this? I'm aware of the weekly 1.5 hr maintenance. But this is 5hrs with no heads up. Whats going on? Patch notes?

If there are employees awake on the west coast doing the maintenance then there's someone awake to let ppl know whats going on. Just as they have been since March 2015.

A minor point, they changed it - I just switched the game on and saw the time change from 6-9 to 6-11 as it refreshed.

My best assumption is that Andy was not available to post his typical message for us. It would be nice if Zebular or another moderator could be appointed to post a maintenance mesage when Andy is not available.

One thing I would like to see in the maintenance post is a notice of an available update to our client side software. This would let us know to start the download while the maintenance on the servers has us down anyway and help us minimize our downtime instead of waiting until the logon screen goes into update mode after we've already waited for the servers to come back up online.

The notice on the logon screen showed 6-11 am (pst) when I started the game up.

Strumslinger may have dropped the ball, but he is just one man. I'm sure this company has hundreds of employees. One of which can sign up for a forum acct using an email just to make a post. Anybody can give us a heads up.

You know what to do with a dropped ball? Pick it up and run with it.

The 200+ views of this thread in just a few hours just goes to show how much the NW player community does rely on the maintenance notifications to stay informed on the status of the game. I think that justifies the need for having a backup plan to insure the notices do get posted.

yes but what you don't know is that I'd been playing for 6 hours prior to maintenance...

You are correct, I did not know that. I take it the 3 hour tmeframe was being show before I started up, but it did get changed to refect the 5 hour downtime by the time I started.
