Any tanks using the Twisted Weapon set?

How is the effect? As a tank always getting hit and always poking I feel like the set would be a waste because we'd never get max stacks going. Am I wrong in this thinking?

It is pretty good, you start with 13 power and 12 def stacks. You can easily manage this, even with kv in I can easily get max power by using aoe skills, if I stop attacking for a bit I can max stack def pretty well too.

What weapon set would You suggest for PVE tactician/protector GF? I'm getting close to 70lvl at my GF toon and thinking what should i get for him. At now im using Mulhorand set. Should farm eDemo for Twisted or HE for water / fire set or just stick with Mulho and wait for next mod?
I don't see point using EE artifact weapons.

I can advocate on Twisted Weapons, of course there's always a thing with "wait for the next mod" but you have to have a new goal - right ?:)

Comparing Twisted to the old EE weapons...I was sceptical myself. Mostly because it gives deflect which I wouldn't really wanted to have. But on the other hand it gave me crit which was very welcome :)

Twisted Set is cool, if you want to go full rampage mode than it's really easy to maintain the power stacks with Conq Jagged Blades. On the turtle mode (with KV on) it only takes few seconds to max out the Paranoia stacks.

All in all I would say Twisted is cool and I'm happy I didn't loose any brain cells farming those stupidly designed motes.

Also as a plus, you can get your Twisted MH and OF from beating eDemo - I dropped both pieces in 40 runs or so...when you add to this that there are rings that can salvaged, it's a fair deal in my book.

1). Is SW more dps or tank based?

Yes overall experience for twisted is better. Tha set ability is really cool, and you just get more from the quest to get it.

Just testes myself. Twisted is a bad way to stack defense, most I had was 5 stacks. You need to stand still for a few seconds, with KV, to get 24 defense stacks. This means you aren't activating other buffs. It's great set if you want power, you have 24 stacks easily.

I guess it depends, on areas where there are lots of mobs at lowest i hover at around 10 paranoia stacks. But on some bosses my paranoia could easily drop to 1. But on ECC boss my paranoia still swings from 10 to 24.

I would expect that you need to work up to eDEMO (i.e. get your DR, Shar, IWD and WOD boons), otherwise your going to be a liability to the party in eDEMO (unless your stacked with Rank 12 enchants etc). So I would suggest getting the EE water weapon first (for the added heals) and then when your geared sufficiently to run eDEMO properly, then go for the twisted set.

But that's just my opinion, I don't like having to be carried by others.

If you have negation, atleast 15k def along with your dusk set you should be fine. If you have OP in party you can go ahead and follow group to buff. If you don't well, that means you are tasked with luring demo away from the rest of the group.

So what are peoples thoughts between the twisted set Vs the drowned set, I'm trying to decide which one I want . . . .
  • kemi1984kemi1984 Member Posts: 849 Arc User
I'm still using the Twisted Set but I agree with @whymushroom than it's not the best way to get defense stacks.

This is due to the fact that, believe it or not, Bloodlust is much easier to get to full. This is mostly because one hit with WMS with PF enchant slotted gives so many dots that the Bloodlust gauge is almost full - 2/3 hit's and it is full.

Of course at the same time you are getting hit, but not as much as you hit the bad guys.

Of course you can just turtle behind the shield and not attack at all but once in a while you will have to use the ET to mark the group. Once you hit it, there are sooooo many PF DoTs you're full power stacks again :)

Either way, I still refuse to farm Drowned Shore for the weapon. I will not do any stupid grind EVER.

AP junkie here! Only Burning set! ;)

Tho when u drop every possible dot dmg, all reflection stuff and take deflect to 0, u should be able to maintain 24 paranoia stacks.

sorry that i cant give any info with twisted weapon, getting the ichors seem impossible and i got fed up with 100 motes grinding. not my fun to do, since it easy to get burnout when if i get that finished.
so i am still with elemental vig series sword and shield, best i ever have.
i am also looking forward to next mod for newer weapons, hopefully a grindless version.

Which one would you advice to use in pvp? Twisted or the drowned one?

How about burning? Wouldn't burning be better in PvP?

I don't even consider the burning one... that effect is not so usefull as it seems, if u want a fast ap gain the devoted artifact is the best choisd

I run Twisted on a Tactician GF and Conc GF, the Tactian has no problem keeping 24 stacks up as long as you remember 3 things. 1) You must do no deflect damage at all, this also means Overload Glyphs that do damage. 2) You do not need to hit anything, once you have agro, there's no need to use Aggravating Assault, once you have their attention you have it. 3) KV is your friend, Guarded Assault is your enemy. On my GF Tactitian I run Shield Talent and Extended Mark with the OH +5% DR reduction on marked targets for more party DPS.
