Are Great Weapon Fighters any good?

I have bought a dragon born class and I want to make it the best class possible. I've gotten to level 32 with a great weapon fighter, and it's not looking so strong right now. So if someone could tell me if they are any good and if not, what class I should use, that would be great.

Recently got my a GWF to 70, initially I was enjoying the dps output up to level 60 especially since I have ran as a GF since launch, once I reached 70 my glee quickly dispersed as I was getting out DPSed by everything.
After 3-4 days of getting gear and upgrading even at a sub 1700 IL my GWF is ripping through dungeons no problem and outputting some great DPS, really enjoying this class, can't wait to upgrade further now.

Gwf do great damage but to get max damage out of one you can't be lazy. Learn rotations

They are the most OP class currently...DPS wise. That is if you don't include the glitch using SW's.

Hm. . . I thought that the most OP DPS wise class would be a hunter ranger or trickster rouge.
No not at all. Neither the HR or TR come close to the damage a GWF can put out in dungeons/skirmishes. The only way those two classes, or any other class, gets close to the GWF DPS is if they glitch(like SW), or if the GWF is vastly under-geared compared to them.

Put into perspective, my first ELOL run on my GWF after hitting level70. I was at 1830 Item level, an HR in the group was at about 2600 Item level. I finished 1st in DPS by well over 20-30million.

Plus, The TR was nerfed to the ground with MOD6, aside from a few things in PvP. So honestly the only TR's that still put up crazy numbers are those who have EXTREMELY high stats.

I recently did 108 million damage in ETOS with my Guy (3200 and change) I have more work I intend to do on him so reckon I can still do better :) So I think they are pretty Good :)

I've been a GWF since day 1 (the dark days).

Always loved playing this class. I've got a DC and SW alt but neither of them are as fun as a GWF. You can do insane damage in the T2 dungeons (my best is 172 million in ETOS) with an Ilvl of 2500.

You can stand face to face with the enemy and smash them in Unstoppable mode.

A Rogue or Ranger would have to be highly specced to touch a GWF for DPS.

Indeed it is Temple of the spiders (epic) Their key factor is focused damage I have manage 1million plus crits successively with mine if the boss stands still long enough for them to stack :) A good SW or TR can match and exceed my levels really depends on if I am paying attention and fully focused :)

PS if you want to chat and or check out my build send me a request on live and join a party I am usually in we can then meet up at PE and you can have a look and we can chat about it, I am usually in the Stronghold and currently building up a DC and tuning my pally so would need to swap to him when you are around :)
Happy to run a low level dungeon with you so you can check it out as well (Happy to pick up the AD) :)
    Cheers

A GWF is the Strongest DPS currently with out standing Damage I wouldn't recommend you play as the Dragon race though your best choice would be an Orc and 2nd best a human. Your a Tanky-DPS class its your job to aggro when a pally or Tank isn't around so Daring Shout will be your best friend for that. ;3 Dont worry about this msg till your 70.

haha, now PvP is a whole different story. PvP is dominated by glitching SW's, bubble haste cheese, and perma-stun HR's (and some TR's), and apparently a number of 1hitter quitter TR's as well (which since the nerf I don't think is as pronounced). So honestly, I don't PvP 'that' much, but when I do I don't see that many GWF.

The only clerics I have seen get hated on are the ones that babysit the bubble, I have not seen nor heard anything about perma-stun clerics....didn't even know that was a thing honestly lol.

Not saying they are not good. The only ones I have seen that are good and successful are those that are vastly over-geared. But that's just what I have seen, I am sure a long time GWF PvPer could tell you more.

    :)

I have a level 64 devoted cleric. My respect for you has shot up ten fold.
Mine is midway between sixty and sixty one, different way of playing for me thats for sure, Making him a haste cleric for now to support some of the pallys in the guild until they get to self sustaining then will respec him, as I never run Pug and do Guild runs I don't expect to hear the hate mentioned on another post (unless from a random).
Just as an aside I dont get the hate because if they are supporting a bubble pally then they should not be getting injured so should not need heals to the same degree, however as most Haste Clerics seem to be firing off healing word pretty much like an automatic weapon I dont get the issue?

Mind you I haven't been doing this that long with this character so what would I know (literally mean that :) )
It has given me a higher respect for those guys who Main a Cleric and it is a lot tougher than people realise,
Trying to anticipate where a fast moving character may be heading in order to hit them with the heals when they get to that point was a new twist for me, especially if they are in stealth lol.

So folk should be a little more easygoing on the Cleric I reckon and ask themselves whether they themselves are the problem rather than railing on the cleric :)

What are your numbers on STR and DEX abilities, are these the highest ones? What are your currently selected feats? What powers are you using and how?

Also, keep in mind that at around levels 30-40s the toon seems a bit weak. Don't worry much about it as long as you're building it the right way.

The main focus should be Strength, then Dexterity. Constitution is just a throw away honestly, at least I did not put any points in it.

Beastpro is right, theslotharmy. You will need to retrain your toon to get STR and DEX to 21, or 22 and 20 respectively (mine is configured this way and works pretty well too). When levelling up, add points to these abilities only.

    What about your feats?

This. When NW hit XB1 the GWF was my first toon, I had it up to 15K before changing to a TR back in mod 5. I wish I had never deleted that account, no GWF sigil for me. I went back and watched a couple of old PVP matches with it, 32-2. I kind of miss it. :p

Super Saiyan God- TR Lvl 70 (PVP)
Unleash The Wolves- HR Lvl 70 (PVE)

I hunt GWF "Magik" on sight.

    I chose swordmaster. . . I think that's what it's called. . .I chose the paragon path with flourish.
Then I chose in the feats executioner.

So from now on, I should focus on dexterity?
Or should I just continue with my 2 best stats still?

Yeah, that's the paragon path, but what about the feats that you have selected so far?

    Check these two builds guides:
