Double Refinement Question

Can anyone share any guides to double refinement? I saw one post that noted that putting another union artifact into a union artifact would be a 10X bonus instead of 2X. I've got a level one eye of lathander (union) and a level 60 waters (union). Would the best approach be to level up the eye of lathander to blue and then put both of these union artifacts into my sigil of the oathbound paladin (union) ?

I've actually done the math, and the 2x2 method described there is the most efficient way of getting to mythic, if that the goal.

All I am saying is taking an artifact to indeed be dumped into another like category you waste materials taking it to epic. Save the greater marks and only take it to 59. You links btw are not loading but I believe it is on their end.

That blog post is great but I'm new and don't have all the lingo... Can someone explain the 2 blank artifacts? Are they just like the feeder ones just level 1?

What about 2 epics and 6 blues? What does that mean?

u can slot an extra 2 artifact on the 2 blank artifact slot once u reach a certain level. blues means that is rare and purple means epic. legendary status is orange and light blue is mythic/max level.

actually if you dump the same category of artifact into the artifact u want to refine, it works like a charm and will give you x10 rp. that's how i get my sigil controller to mythic, though i have been collecting artifact for couple of mths now, just waiting for this 2x rp day

Do you have to level the blank one up to purple or can you just put it in its green 'ready to refine' state into the one you want to get to mythic?

Yeah let's see how much is wasted. Say you use the 6 feeder method which includes upgrading 2 artifacts to purple, you'll have to buy 2 greater marks of union and 2 greater marks of potency. So that's like 140k (way less if you simply run phantasmal fortress a few times).

Now if you only use rank 59 feeders you're going to need 8 feeders in total. So that's 2 extra feeders at 200k each (union), is an extra 400k.

So that's 140k on greater marks vs. 400k on feeders. PLUS you'll need double the refinement as you're upgrading 8 feeders to rank 59 versus 4 feeders to rank 59.

I know it sounds silly, right, but the way RP table is defined for artifacts and gear upgrades is far from straightforward. So it's not immediately obvious if some other method wouldn't be more efficient, for example chain feeding one artifact into another or trying 2x3 or 2x4 while refining to a lower level, or some other trick.
