Using stealth helps, but they won't always be tricked, just like some monsters will see thru stealth no matter what.
I like to drop the bait near a mob attacking me and then vanish and run, or better yet, stealth first, then bait and switch, and then fling daggers from a distance while still hidden and no incoming damage.
I've now switched to vengeance for most fights where I would have used bait. The debuff seems to help more than the AP gain.
Alright, thanks for the info. I've started getting elemental gear so I probably don't need it as much as I did a couple days ago, what, with the improved HP, power and Armor Pen and all. Thanks though!
You can trick the Enemy into attacking it. Drop your Decoy, then attack from behind it, forcing the Enemy to look at you--via your Decoy. Launch DS or Cos right through the Decoy to preserve the attack angle, and if they're dumb enough they'll think the attacks are coming from the Decoy and attack it. Rage Drakes are not always dumb.
If you don't have Stealth, try to create distance between you, the Decoy and the enemy. This is easiest if you have a companion summoned, as this gives the enemy two targets to pick from. And hopefully you're not one of them.
And I agree with what's already been said. Stealth, and then drop it. And dump it into a large AoE for instant AP gain.
When another rogue drops smoke on you, hit itc, then bait & switch. I usually wait until I'm already taking damage from an aoe, and do the above combo.
